Any news on those proto Spesh pedals?

Clues on availability and price would be great -- my Demo is calling out for these. Any chance of spying a pair at SO?

Feedback on the mongoose gravity bikes (pinn'r & boot'r)

I couldn't say for sure, though I will note that the bike felt fine on most landings and drops. It was mostly small successive hits that brought out the harshness in my case. I imagine if it were just a pedal issue, it may be evident on all types of hits and not just near the top of the stroke.

Feedback on the mongoose gravity bikes (pinn'r & boot'r)

A lot of people worry about that, but I never noticed my feet moving with the suspension. The rear-end harshness resulted in a lot of pedal feedback, but I don't think the floating BB piece itself had anything to do with that.

Feedback on the mongoose gravity bikes (pinn'r & boot'r)

I had an '09 Boot'r during the '10 race season. I liked it for the most part, though I found the rear suspension to be less active than other bikes I've ridden. The anti-squat characteristics of the Freedrive system made the beginning of the stroke somewhat harsh, though it did pedal pretty well...

    Concussion recovery experiences...

I'm not a helmet expert, but I have had a number of concussions over the years (most from MX) and that has led me to read a lot on the subject. Over the last couple of years, I've read opinions from quite a few experts who feel that DOT and Snell-approved helmets are too stiff for bicycle...

2011 National Champs to be held in North Carolina

Ah. Thought he was from farther north for some reason.

2011 National Champs to be held in North Carolina

Thanks for the clarification. Is it fair to say that most of the contenders are going to be coming from far away though? I tried to think of some names I know from the south but I couldn't really come up with any.

2011 National Champs to be held in North Carolina

Gutted. I hoped it might be somewhere on the West--preferably Northstar since they reportedly put a bid on it--so this is a disappointment. Plus, it doesn't seem like the south is much of a hotbed for racing (forgive me if that's not the case, but I've scarcely heard a thing from that scene)...

    Ft william DH v. Moto

They only did a couple of runs, and Gee was a few seconds faster each time. They were about five seconds apart on the last run, though, and the writer at Dirt noted that Knight would have likely become faster than Gee if they had done a few more (so Knight could become as familiar with the...

    2011 Giant Glory 00 vs. Glory 01

Thanks--that's good to know. I raced Sport this year but I'll be running Expert next year. I've been leaning toward the 00 today (figured it wouldn't leave me wondering about the next level,) but I'll meditate on this now--I've still got some time to sort it out.

    2011 Giant Glory 00 vs. Glory 01

I like twisting the dials too, at least until I get to a nice neutral point that I can count on. So for those of you who switched to a more adjustable shock: did the performance improve much? I could live without more dials so long as the action of the rear end is good to start with. If the...

    2011 Giant Glory 00 vs. Glory 01

I've been considering the shock swap too. But it looks like I may be able to get a little help on pricing, so the difference between the two bikes may be slightly less than retail. And with an RC4 coming in around $600, it might make more sense to go for one out of the box if I think I'm going...

    2011 Giant Glory 00 vs. Glory 01

Thanks, everyone. I'm not too worried about the Boxxer Team, which everyone I talk to seems to like, but rather the R2 shock, which lacks the compression adjustments of the RC4. I suppose I'm nervous because I'm coming off a bike that never seemed settled in the rear, and I'd like to not get...

    2011 Giant Glory 00 vs. Glory 01

That's right. I'm trying to decide whether the 40/RC4 pairing is worth the extra money over the Boxxer/Vivid.

    2011 Giant Glory 00 vs. Glory 01

Has anyone spent time on both of these bikes, and if so, what were the differences in the ride? I am trying to decide whether the 00 is worth the extra money over the 01 for next season. Thanks. P.S. I put 2011 in the title, but impressions of the 2010s will work fine since the bikes are...

    Rock Shox Domain DC

Ha. To be fair, I would only go to second base with this fork. The x7 2x10 is cool, but this is a DH forum. I'm sure it's getting plenty of love on the AM side of things (as it should.)

    Rock Shox Domain DC

I like the idea of a DC Domain too. My SC Domain has been great, but if I had the option to do a DC version when I bought it, I might well have gone for the dual. I also think it would be cool if they fit these to stock Big Hits in the near future.

2010 Giant Glory with 13.6" BB and 63 deg. HA

Fair enough. Still, I think the V-10 has proven itself as a race bike in general. And the new Glory may do so too. I'll take one for a spin if I get the chance.
