I have had a steel .243 racing dj bike for a long long time now and I can say that I am happier with it, even though it is by all standards now a beater, than any other bike ive ever owned. Buy a steel dj bike, put light, semi slick tires on it and dont look back. Sometimes simplicity is the...
why cant macs and pcs get along? The only thing that deserves that much hate was my old old old LG Chocolate, it got real friendly with a pick axe, a paintball gun and a sledge hammer...the sim card was fine though
Foam rollers are the devil! But unfortunately they're one of the most helpful things around. Ive heard of some people who I guess are simply too manly for foam though, and use a lacrosse balls and pvc piping instead
Thanks for the input, the socom has alot going for it but that flexy rear end and bearing maintenence are real deal breakers. Mainly because if it isnt that strong, I don't want to know how it deals with 2-3 years of abuse. The only socoms I can find for a low enough price are 1st gens too. I...
ah, the problem is, I have a 1.5ht fork that I am putting on it so the angleset suggestions wont help me much. Although thinking about the vertical or lack thereof does make the socom very appealing
in ontario unfortunately, so not much in the way of vertical. Ive got a spot near my house that has some proper steeps though, only problem is you can only get a few turns in before you get to the bottom (maybe 30 seconds)

If your muscles are more balanced you will have less risk of joint problems down the road. Plus, if you get good with clips, maybe one day if the course demands it, you will have the option to run clips on a dh run
Ok, thanks again guys. I am 6'1 and 190lbs (no gear) so I feel like I would flex the hell out of a socom but might be a little tall for an Izimu...damn. That being said, the socom sounds like a bike for someone with considerably more precision than I can give it. I think I am going to pull the...
So I am looking at getting a new (to me) DH bike for cheap. Ive found pretty good deals on some Izimus and some Socoms. If you have ridden both, which one did you like more and why?
btw, transferring parts from my 7point7
What is the geo going to be like? If it stays dh oriented for all travel options it could be a killer mini dh. The 140mm would destroy a course like sea otter. The 170mm w. dh angles would be a dream come true
Metal, you are right that my logic sort of seems flawed. But on a practice day you are working out continuously throughout the day. We are still talking about race weekends right?
my bad not mentioning that in my last post
Though this guy's website seems pretty legit and his theory well supported, eating constantly through the day helps in that you are eating more directly before and after workouts. By doing this, you are training your body to be able to work harder because your body has more fuel to do the job as...
Try not to eat within 45 min of your run but you should have something just before then so that you have something to burn for energy. A little bit of carbs (maybe some whole grain toast w. peanut butter) and some simple sugar (fruits) will definitely be the best option.
Right after practice...
