Freshly built for 2017. 650B in the front with a -1 degree offset cup for extra WB. Rear shock is a 2015 small shaft RC4 - the small shaft RC4 is much better in this frame compared to the 2013 RC4 that it replaced.
Clean out the mating surfaces first and use a retaining compound (i.e. Loctite 609) where necessary. You can be liberal with that stuff, but make sure you put everything back together quickly and let it cure.
Udi has made numerous posts on the topic of ovalised mating surfaces, search this...
Thought I'd share my settings:
Shock: 2012 RC4
Spring: 300lbs
PSI: 158
HSC: 6 clicks in from full open
LSC: 0 clicks in from full open
Rebound: 6 clicks in from full open
Bottom Out: Fully closed
I am 150lbs with gear on. Setup is on the firm side, with adequate support for the stuff I ride...
Have you tried compressing the shock by hand and seeing if you can feel (or hear) any unusual movements, play, harsh topout (or any kind of inconsistency in the compression/rebound)?
Edit: I'm currently running an '12 RC4 in my Sunday. One of the best investments ever. Coming off a CCDB, I do...
As Rocko says, green area (top tube) is the best.
On full lock, make sure that the respective fork bumper is making contact with the top tube. The gusset is soft and is prone to denting (as you have experienced), so do not align your fork bumpers with the gusset.
If you don't mind saying, what exactly is involved in the oil filling process if you don't use a vacuum fill machine? I had troubles with mine and the service center still couldn't get it back to a state that was comparable to when I bought mine (despite sending it back twice). Everytime it came...
Bit of a dig here, sorry. I just got my CCDB serviced and I'm getting a similar noise. It's quite noticeable, even with my helmet on. I just wanted to know whether replacing the IFP o-ring solved this problem?
Edit: Shock was almost inaudible prior to service.
I'd say give the 350lb spring ago. You're heavier than me with gear and I think it should suite you. The bike will also feel more balanced. My cornering has improved since moving to 350lb and I'm getting decent support from the middle towards the end of the stroke. In regards, to rough sections...
How much do you weigh with gear? I was also on a 300lb steel spring, however, I found it a bit on the soft side. Moving to 350lb has definitely improved things for me.
Anyone here running a CCDB with a 350lb steel spring (or even just a CCDB in general)? I'm interested to know your settings. I'm running:
3 turns of pre-load
2 turns HSC & 5 clicks LSC
3 turns HSR & 10 clicks LSR
I'm 64kg / 141lbs with gear.
Hey guys, just wanted to know whether any owners of the said Knee/Shin guard in the title could help me out. I would like to know the length ("from center of the knee to the bottom", as specified on the 661 Sizing Chart) of the guard for the small and medium sizes.
661 lists the length of...
