While the Hillbilly has a rounder profile than a wetscream, it is definitely more square than the swampthing. I'd say the profile is closer to a minion dhf than anything else.
The spindle on truvativ cranks has a step the is meant to seat against the non drive side bearing. If it does not, the bearing is preloaded by the crankarm and you have a bad day.
Only if it goes faster
I don't see there being a huge difference between the Taiwan frames and US made ones. As long as they're similar in quality, I'll be putting my $375 towards beer and race fees.
I have a STP that's set up for slalom racing. I use it to ride around campus, and even take it out on some jump trails in CT. I ride that bike almost every day, and for the $400 that I've spent on it, I'd say it's well worth the cost.
What course will you guys be running? I was down there for the gravity east race this weekend, and it was really fun. I'll be back this weekend for the collegiate race.
Hoping the booter will be on the course. It was super fun last weekend.
Anybody have any idea how Blue drains? Looks like there's going to be some pretty serious rain Wednesday. Should we expect a damp course or will the mountain dry out quickly?
Long, low and slack is the way for me. Looking for 62 or 63 degree head angle, 13.5 bb or lower, and mid length chainstays. I'm on the shorter side(5'9" FWIW)
They work really well in hardpack or loose over hardpack. I ran them at the US open and felt like they were great on Friday, but after it rained, they didn't do so well.
They're fun tires if you can get away with running fairly low pressure.
Trail starts to rider's right of Maiden Voyage (all the way up the chunky work road to get to maiden). Through a grass field, then down into sections of maiden (bypassing most of the slow crappy sections), under hellion on maiden, across the big wooden bridge to a hard right. Nice flat sprint...
