You seem to be lacking a basic understanding of how shocks function. I don't mean that to be disrespectful. If the bearing assembly did indeed shorten the shock stroke it would be due to compressing the spring into a very preloaded state which would be bad for obvious reasons. You need more...
Good to see someone get caught in the act but that wasn't a "beat down" by any stretch of the imagination. That's actually a good thing since vigilante type justice was outlawed for good reason. That being said I'd have LOVE to have delivered a few kicks of my own and I can guarantee he wouldn't...
One little comment for the guys who are wondering (surprised even) that another rider of about the same weight on the same bike runs a significantly higher or lower spring rate than themselves... Shock springs are often not even close to being the rate they are labeled and sold as. Sometimes...
I owned and rode an Avalanche DHF-8 fork for years doing some pretty brutal urban riding and the occasional DH run and never had any twisting issues. Never had any problems with the fork at all. Only sold it when I finally just wanted to lighten up my bike due to shoulder problems that made the...
Craig told me the same thing. You do need some preload to enable the suspension to function optimally. I'd trust his knowledge over pretty much anyone.
Does the bearing collar increase sensitivity at all?
I'm curious about this whole pedaling issue. Yes, the suspension bobs on many bikes as you pedal but is the bike still not moving the exact same distance with every pedal stroke??? So what if the suspension moves as long as the bike still accelerates. I think it's more of a placebo or similar...
The faster a rider becomes, the less forgiving his bike set up becomes. That's the price you pay for being on the edge but the rewards can be worth the aches and pains afterwards.
I can imagine that many of the guys who have claimed that Avalanche shocks are "way over damped" now understand why...
It's a slight bend guys. It contacts the upper pulley wheel bracket not the frame itself. With a spacer I was able to make the bike ridable but would like to put the crank arm in its original state.
I might look up a local shop that has the right tool for the job instead of risking it.
Thanks...
I ended up mounting my vice to a thicker bench yesterday evening to try it again but I pulled so hard I messed up my lower back! I'm all doped up on Tylenol 3's with codeine right now! lol
I'm tempted to try hitting the crank arm with a heavy object while it's mounted on the bike but I'm afraid...
Suck me SIDEWAYS that guy is good!!! lol
The only thing I dislike about urban riding like this is the complete lack of respect for pedestrians and passersby. Not so much in this video but I've seen many where the rider damn near hits someone who is just trying to walk down the sidewalk. Not...
While I appreciate the suggested alternative brands, the topic is how to go about straightening the ones I have. I realize that they aren't as strong as Saints but the accident occurred while riding extreme terrain that I don't really ever ride. I was there only due to my local trails still...
I'll see if the seller still has the receipt and have him mail it to me.
Thanks for the laughs guys.
Funny thing is I bought Saints off a guy just before I got the Gravity Lites. He had advertised them as being 165mm arms but they were 175mm so I had to return them.
It's the arm itself. I bought them last week new and never installed from a seller on Pinkbike. I don't have the receipt though so I don't know if I will be able to get a crash replacement?
I took my bike for a little ride around a rocky area in my town that is being excavated and has some cool rock formations and I banged my drive side crank arm. It's bent inwards towards the frame and comes in contact with my pulley wheel mount. It wasn't even a very hard or fast impact but was...
Regarding my MX riders skipping over whoops analogy...
Not a good one but what I'm try to point out is that you can hit the faces of bumps vs dropping in and out of them with control if your suspension is set up "properly".
Now properly is the key word.
If those MX riders were running over...
