    A new excuse for unemployment

Sure they can, do your research. The batteries are much better than standard lead-acid car batteries. Recycling infrastruture for Hybrid batteries is developing as we speak. Anyway the batteries are engineered to last for the life of the car, so it won't matter for years. If you compare...

Why do intelligent cool people hate Wal-Mart?

I'm suprised no one has pointed out what Walmart does to their suppliers. From Wikipedia: "With Wal-Mart's supreme buying position, it business relations with suppliers are at times best described as a vigorously monopsonistic. In its negotiations with suppliers, Wal-Mart requires that...

any mormon/other evangelical monkeys care to explain...?

My wife enjoys asking them about their views on women's roles in the church. I think that has shut them up.

    Bird Flu

A researcher was asked that very question on NPR yesterday. He basically said that there is no current threat to the U.S., but it is worth monitoring incase it starts spreading in the future.

    End to petroleum based society?

Here in Indianapolis, I've never noticed that they even give the type of vehicle but if they do, perhaps SUV's cause more frequent, larger accidents because of sloppier handling, higher ground clearance, larger mass, and over aggressive driving techniques...... I'm sure physics has nothing...

What should people expect from "govt"

I have a hunch that much of this discussion is moot, because many of the real victims in this debacle, rent homes/apartments instead of owning. Renters insurance is not required, nor is it spelled out that clearly when you sign a lease.

    Global Warming in Alaska.......

By Yereth Rosen Wed Sep 28, 4:38 PM ET ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Reuters) - Sinking villages perched on thawing permafrost, an explosion of timber-chewing insect populations, record wildfires and shrinking sea ice are among the most obvious and jarring signs that Alaska is getting warmer as the...

    AutoCAD 2006 Help

We have been looking at it for awhile now, especially since we are a full service arch/engineering firm. Our IT person is also a registered architect, and he is getting ready to purchase one copy and do a pilot project with it for evaluation. Should be interesting.

    AutoCAD 2006 Help

Actually, I'm an architect at a midsized firm (65 people) and we use Cadvance for Construction Documents. Although it is not nearly as popular as Autocad, it works well. We are looking at switching to Revit, which is a fully functional 3d Construction Document program. In recent years...

    Norway

Even though I'm pretty leftist, and I'm all for moving our government closer to a style similar to Norway, I have to admit that it isn't exactly a relavent example to how our nation could run...... with 88% of the population Evangelical Lutheran, and 99.995% white....... and with all the oil...

    Support of George Bush

Weapons are more important than Economy & Jobs??? Even N8 might find fault with your logic................ :nono: Besides, I fail to remember any recent Democratic Candidate having "banning all guns" as part of his platform.

    New car

I agree, you listed reliability as a priority, yet VW's Audi's and Saabs aren't known for that. I love VW's and Audi's, but they are EXPENSIVE to repair. Unless you can afford to set aside hundreds a year for repairs on an older german/swedish car, I would suggest japanese - maybe an Integra...

Liberals who secretly support high gas prices are screwing over their buddies...

Ever been to Europe? Somehow I doubt that the 'poor' will be forced to drive "devalued" Escalades and H2's. My college car was a $1600 85' Civic that got 40 mpg. There are plenty of cheap economical cars out there, and I don't think high gas prices will change this. Europe has been dealing...

Liberals who secretly support high gas prices are screwing over their buddies...

Interesting, the premise of this article is exactly the same reason that a flat tax will never work......... but I digress....... I'm with Ohio, I wish we taxed gas more heavily, and hope the prices stay high. It stings a little in the short term, but long term it will lead to more efficient...

    yay, 2nd amendment...

I agree, I was just doing that math in my head as well. That suggests we should all know many people who have used guns in this fashion. I have never heard of anyone.

    yay, 2nd amendment...

I'm with you on that... funny how the NRA retoric always leaves out the "well regulated militia" part of the 2nd ammendment. While I'm not for banning all guns, I fail to seen how people relate having a handgun in their pickup truck to 18th century colonial American militia's. I also...

    So long property rights...

I can sort-of understand when gov't takes private property for infrastructure/public buildings/etc........ as it is necessary sometimes for progress. It makes me sick to my stomach though when they take private property and hand it over to a private corporation to profit from.
