29 Inch fork with a 26 inch wheel

Jolly, forgive me, I just reread your post and realized you want to keep the 26" wheel. Ignore all the offset stuff I wrote; I thought you were building a 96"er. Mud-n-sweat said it 100% right in his reply: "If the A-C measurement and offset are relatively close, then it should handle okay."

29 Inch fork with a 26 inch wheel

I've recently dealt with George at Bike29.com, and he's a good guy. His shop is definitely a solid choice for a decent selection of 29"er parts and advice. I don't know your current fork's axle-crown height, but I'd steer you towards the White Brothers for a Fox for two reasons MMcG cited --...

29 Inch fork with a 26 inch wheel

Generally, 29" head tube angles are steeper to accomodate the slow steering that results from "typical" ~38mm offsets. If I were going this route, I'd look for a 29"er fork with greater offset, such as White Brothers (~43mm) or the retail Fox F29 (~46mm). By my simplistic calculation...

RIDEMONKEY SCOOP :: UK Magazine 29in vs 26in test

Look, bored, I've got no horse in this race. I like 29"ers, I ride 'em, but I don't force them on my friends, and don't proselytize "the movement" in my posts. I do suggest taller riders give 'em a shot, and being the curious sort that's been on a 29" bike since '02, I'm interested in how...

RIDEMONKEY SCOOP :: UK Magazine 29in vs 26in test

Ted, isn't that like saying that what you write on your blog isn't worth "dookey", because it applies only to you and the people you write about, but for everybody reading, it's going to be different? Why so absolutely dismissive?

RIDEMONKEY SCOOP :: UK Magazine 29in vs 26in test

Without directly addressing your reading comprehension :D , I'll agree with your "psuedo science" label, but suggest you read the article again... in its entirety. The bigger problem is the article is poorly written; the results of the "tests" are poorly laid out. Face it, it's confusing...

DW's new suspension design. the split pivot.

So are you trying to say, Dave, that Chris is going to adopt the Split Pivot for his next line of bikes? ...Or just step up and use the dw-link? :D http://www.bicycleretailer.com/news/newsDetail/264.html

RIP9 reviewed in Mt. Biking Magazine...

I'm not ready for a full evaluation. Not just yet. There is no doubt it's a fun, well rounded machine. It makes me want to pedal like hell anywhere the trail goes fast. Yet getting up the hill reminds me of my dw-link bikes, with just a touch of bob, but no pedal feedback (which *I think* I'm...

RIP9 reviewed in Mt. Biking Magazine...

link to the discussion over on empty beer: http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=327540 The August 07 issue of Mt. Biking Magazine has more than a few pages of 29-inch commentary. What caught my eye is their review of the Niner RIP9, which, I'm sure you'll agree, is almost too good to be...

    Rider down at China Camp.

Wow... this one hits home. I don't know Dan, but ride China Camp on a somewhat regular basis. In '02, my wife went down the embankment on the section of Bayview between 2nd & 3rd bridge, and I've since paid it healthy respect. But this... I'm at a loss. Sounds more like a freak slip rather...

    New 29"er disc rim (x-post)

Sounded (from Halo's UK distributor) as though BTI hadn't ordered any yet. Daitech has 'em, for sure, but based on the response here and on mtbr, I'm guessing they'll be popular.

Cross-posted from mtbr's 29"er forum ( http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=237938 ). I just got word from Diatech USA (Seattle) yesterday that the much anticipated Halo Freedom 29" rim has hit US shores. I'm still awaiting delivery of my Niner RIP9 frame, and these rims were to be the...

    whats all this? Rohloff fraud?

I haven't heard much. Supposedly same gear range as the standard hub, with a 200 pound rider weight limit (which already makes it a no-go for me), and with a higher price tag. I understand Bicycle Retailer has some info coming up, but I don't subscribe -- hopefully somebody will post what...
