The Pride of Carrying the American Flag

This is a somewhat personal story. I come from a very patriotic family but when I was 19 years old I failed to live up to one of their expectations. 18 years later I found redemption at a BMX track. Veterans will probably be able to relate to this - The Pride of Carrying the Flag <admin edit...

    The Bible of BMX

I recently read the book Pro BMX Skills by Lee McCormack and wrote a review of it. While I am an experienced book reviewer, I'm still new to the sport so if you have read the book and spotted something that I missed I'd love to hear about it. "Every sport has their bible. It is often a...

The Top 5 BMX Racing Tires?

Thanks for the help everyone. I wrote a short article about The Top Five Best Tires for BMX Racing and then I went for the Maxxis DTH 1.75. I love them. They roll so fast, carve great, land well. My only afterthought was that they size small. I could have gone 1.85 and got some more wheel...

The Top 5 BMX Racing Tires?

The tires are 24" 1.5". I'm 5'9" 160pds. I need at least 1.75" but haven't decided on the tread and durability.

The Top 5 BMX Racing Tires?

I recently got into BMX Racing and definitely have the wrong tires. Not only are they too narrow but also have the wrong kind of tread. I've studied around the web to figure out what I should be racing on but there are conflicting views. The top tires seem to be: Maxxis DTH Tioga Power...

Florida Budget Proposes to Cut 53 State Parks

The current budget cuts proposed by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection call for eliminating the Office of Greenways and Trails and closing 53 state parks, including the San Felasco State Preserve (Home of the Tour de Felasco), and Big Shoals in White Springs (Home of the...

    The Ripxx GPS Device

I recently learned of this GPS device as it was being used to train BMX racers. I was asked to test the product and write a review. In summary: The Ripxx uses gyros as well as GPS to determine not only speed, distance, location and climb but also acceleration, braking, pedal cadence and air...

    Pimp Yo Track

I went to a track council meeting at Cape Coral BMX (Florida) and they have voted to redesign their track as well. They are planning to hire the same people who worked on Charlotte as well as many others in FL. You can read the whole story at: Bog Dogs Race Report.

Have you ever wanted to own a bike shop?

You're right. His profit comes from his renters. His utilities are low because he lives in such a weather mellow part of Florida. After 28 years in bike shops he doesn't ride a bike anymore. Anyway, he's a good guy. The building does make him money so I promised to help spread the word. This...

Have you ever wanted to own a bike shop?

Many bike enthusiasts have toyed with the idea of opening their own shop. Starting from scratch can be very costly and time consuming. The easiest, smartest and most profitable way would be to buy an existing shop that is already successful...Read on

    Pimp Yo Track

The big starting hill is still there and yes the 'decision' has been put back into place. They had a different layout for the past six years since the Hurricane but now you can go either under or over the bridge like you used to. New asphalt is being set in the corners today.

    Pimp Yo Track

We just held the first race of the year on the new track and it was a huge success. I've never seen the parking lot so full. If anyone happens to be in the Fort Myers area be sure to check out Charlotte BMX.

2011 National Champs to be held in North Carolina

First off, this thread has finally taken a step up to address some excellent issues. Thanks for the insights. Second, I just moved down to Florida and I'm amazed at the size of the BMX community. Tons of kids riding and racing every week. Tons of young girls racing as well. Perhaps BMX should...

Crankworx Colorado - Winter Park, Colorado

I might have to choose between going to Crankworks Colorado or later hitting up the Gravity Nationals in NC. Not sure I can afford to do both. Which would be more worth it? Are they going to have Nationals at NC for two years in a row?

2011 National Champs to be held in North Carolina

    * So we can either talk to USAC about changing the date or we play the hand dealt to us and make the most of it. * I personally don't have a problem with the date but it would make it hard for anyone with kids. * I also don't have a problem with the location. Truth is that I didn't have a...

2011 National Champs to be held in North Carolina

    * I'm happy that the Nationals will be at Beech because, as a Floridian, I will be able to attend for sure. * As for the 880 vert - Highland in New Hampshire has barely 500 vert but their solo Gravity East race was so popular and difficult that the crowd of attendees overwhelmed the small...

    Pimp Yo Track

Since a large number of BMX riders spend at least some time at their local track as a rider, racer or volunteer, I thought it made sense to have a thread where they could promote it. My local track is Charlotte BMX, located in Punta Gorda, Florida. We are currently undergoing renovations...
