Clarke's pads like a lot of the aftermarket pads, are all coming out of the same 3 factories in TW (this includes Superstar and OE pads from Avid, etc.)
EDC in Europe is a little different in that they actually manufacturer their pads, as well as applying pad material to the backing plates that...
this is mine
2012 Specialized Stumpjumper Evo 29er HT
short stem, big bars (Easton Havoc 750mm), lock-on grips, flat pedals = feels wicked to ride in anger!
just come off a 150mm all-mtn bike (Devinci Dixon SP with Fox 36 Floats) onto a 2012 Stumpy Evo 29er, thoroughly enjoying mine!
set mine up with 70mm Thomson stem, 750mm Easton Havoc DH bars, Nukeproof flat pedals, etc.
feels wickedly chuckable on the singletrack and a total...
well there is your problem...
I used to sell these frames for a living (spitfires, runes and legends)
QC is piss poor, its hit and miss whether you get a good frame?
in the UK we had a return rate of 60%+ during 2010-2011
remember, this frames are coming out of the same TW factory that...
definitely check out the Fox volume reduction kit for the Float shocks
it makes a massive difference to the midstroke of the Float shock, and comes with 3 volume sizes so you can experiment and find the 100% right setup for your needs
its a really easy install that takes less than 10 minutes
really simple if you have a Float fork?
just open 'her up and reduce the travel using the Fox travel reduction kit (plastic spacers)
I run my 36 Float RC2 at 150mm which feels just perfect on my 145mm bike, where the 160mm setting was just a little too tall
^^
I used to build ALOT of wheels with Stans ZTR rims, and we never used alloy nips because they just caused too much trouble whilst building the wheels (inconsistent tension from the 'grabby' nipple / rim drilling interface), and 6 months later after a winter of salt on the icy roads and...
if you are regularly breaking chains I would first inspect your CHAINTOOL
I have seen many riders with ongoing problems with their chains, and they use the same chain tool each time to install the chain, or to install a new chain
using a cheap chain tool can also cause this problem, as the...
its a no-brainer
get the 2011 model - save your money
get the SKF seals
whilst you are not riding, carefully remove the original seals during a "lowers service" and sell them
install the SKF seals and do the lowers service, plus pack some Slick Honey or M-Prep into the cavity below...
really liked my Sunline 745 bars - the first "big bar" I owned after years of Easton Ea bars
totally transformed the ride of my bike :)
in one of my last jobs, we sold alot of their bars, and their stems were popular too, but we never stocked any of their other kit (pedals, headsets...
not our experience in the UK, 2010-2011 return rate of +75%, all QC issues ( frame tolerances and virtual pivots )
helps if the QC guy can actually be bothered to do his job ;0

ok, went ahead and purchased the Hope/Flow combo, now need to build them up. I am going to use DT Comp spokes and I have few questions regarding the nipples:
1. I would like to use red nipples but it seems that they only come in alloy, is it so bad to use alloy instead of...
would not use Enduro seals on a Fox fork, or the Enduro bearings either on a suspension frame (the Enduro products are nothing special, just rebadged catalogue items as someone else mentioned...)
recently switched from stock Fox seals to SKF seals on my 2010 36 Float RC2
this fork has...
in our workshop we have a Rozone "green cleaning" machine that uses enzyme based environmentally friendly degreaser, does not seem to have any adverse effects on plastics.
at home I just use washing-up liquid (for the kitchen sink) and have been using this on chain-device based bikes for...
I've spent years selling and working on SRAM products including 100s of pairs of Juicy and Elixir disc brakes of all model flavours
this includes owning many different pairs of Juicy 3, Juicy 5, Juicy 7, CODE, Exilir R and CR brakes
something many fellow mechanics will agree on, is the...
funny how?
of course they change the metal (from aluminium-alloy to cromoly steel) being loaded into their CNC machine, but its not a big issue to load the CNC programme for the Bulb freehub body, instead of the CNC programme for the Pro II or Pro III freehub bodies?
this might be an issue with your country's distributor?
we have had no problems getting old parts from Hope for Bulb and XC hubs
as Hope is basically a high-end CNC / machine shop they just change the programme on the machine and pop a slightly different freehub body out of the machine...
yes the stainless steel body for the Pro II will "last" longer than the aluminium alloy version (that comes stock on the hub or Hope Hoops wheelsets)
the weight is considerably higher, I have sold many Pro II Trials hubs which have the steel body and its a surprise when you hold the Trials and...
this is where body armour is really tricky to recommend, or even fit to customers if you work in a bike shop
everyone has small variations in terms of body sizing (length of limbs, volume of limbs, shape of limbs)
I found the Race Face Rally FR to be the absolute DON of lower limb...
