I understand that it does slide, but the massive strength factor seems like it would be a big plus for me for the following reasons:
-strong so when i hit stuff hard in my beginner-ish manner, i don't have to worry about it
-good for urban (??) since that's where i'd probably be riding most...
Wow! That's a pretty heavy HT. I think my DJ hardtail weighs less than that, with just about the heaviest parts I can find (2.5lbs for the rear rim alone, for example)
So true.
I weighed my BigHit the other day, and it was 42lbs or so. No excuses for that weight with a single crown fork!
But yes, those cranks will never fail while I'm still strong enough to hold onto the bars...
Just wondering about the weight on these puppies. They seem rather heavy.
If not, I'll weigh my setup sometime next week. Just trying to get an idea of whether or not it's worth going to a Hussefelt/Sealex combo to drop some weight.
Now you've got me pondering the Dura-Ace 8spd cassette, RX600 short-cage 8spd rear mech, and XT 8spd shifter we have sitting at the shop... hmm... :) I think we have a PC-58 in stock, as well.
IRC BackCountry 26x2.25
WTB MotoRaptor 26x2.4
WTB VelociRaptor 26x2.1
Michelin Hot S 26x2.2
All of the ^^above^^ are good "agressive" XC tires... a bit wider than the norm, and non-paper-thin casing... basically good for dropping the pressure a bit and railing some trails... :)
hee hee, that be another pic from SB... i think we actually showed his mom our bikes in the bathroom.
mine was on the toilet, if i recall correctly. chris, can you dig up a pic of that?
here we are: edit - correction, they say this one is the other way (51mm IS mounts to a 22mm caliper)... let me keep digging

jensonusa also has them, but the site is down right now
This is so not a trials thread. My apologies.
Actual trials question: has anyone tried the Alex DX-32 (AKA Planet X BMF) as a rear rim? It's uber-wide (37mm or something), cheap, machined braking surface, and kinda cool lookin. Also fairly heavy...
no, haven't even seen andre since like... may!
going to come to the city eventually. i think we're going dhing on sunday someplace... hook a ride with someone and come along.
and, uh, bashrings... um... raceface are still good after some encounters with concrete :thumb:
yeah, the long and the short of it is...
1) buy two bashrings, 34t-max is probably the biggest you can go without spacing them WAY out
2) get some chainring spacers
3) set up your single ring in the outer-ring position of your crankarm
4) put one bashguard in the middle-ring position...
Here's what I need...
4x104 BCD
BMX (1/8") chain-compatible teeth
42t
Does such a thing exist? Or am I alright using a regular ring with the 1/8" chain? Currently have a TruVativ Hussefelt DH ring 42t with a KMC 3/32" chain and an ACS freewheel cog (18t). There's a SRAM PC-1...
