What did you end up doing? I just built a Sunday yesterday(bought the frameset two years ago but didn't build till now). Same thing, I was adjusting the ending stroke rebound, and oil leaked out. Going to ride it this weekend and hope it holds up.
If you're going to Japan, might want to check out Tech-In. Tech-In is way more popular in the Japanese DH scene than Kowa.

Try the new Panaracer Cinder 2.1 and 1.95 tires. I like them even more than the Fire XC. The Cinder's compound is better on rocks and roots, and still wears at a pretty slow rate.
Panaracer Speedblasters roll fast and are very light. I raced STXC with the 1.95 and they grip and corner very well. Maybe try the 1.75 for your competition.
