For FR/DH I have been running the Specilized Enduro Pro D2 UST / Bliss in 2.4 and really like them. They are light (~980 g), roll fast, dual compound, and do very well in loose loamy stuff (which is where I usually bail). They are not as gnar as a true DH tire, but hold almost as well and...
Even though I rarely ride in mud, I am going to give these a shot primarily to protect my lenses. I always scratch my lenses within 5 seconds of putting on a new pair of goggles.

So you can aford the 40 but can't do the 888 with low riders? I think the 40 is still more expensive.
The Risse crowns are $150, and I think 888 will come with low crowns stock next year.

I am running the 2.4 Enduro Pro D2 Bliss/UST tires and they freaking rock. Love them. Big and burly, yet somehow they roll fast and are not too heavy. Best tires I have found for all around trial/fr/dh.

If you want to save weight you don't need the Diabolous cranks. Holzfellers, older RF Turbines and Next LPS will be lighter, and plenty strong unless you are heavy. Sames goes for the other diabolous components, they are all superman...
