Since I shoot photo and write captions and comments for both Vital and Pinkbike depending on whether its and EWS or WC event I'm curious how on one sight they can be viewed as awesome and insightful and on another you say they are contrived shit.
Both sites are rad and both bring the best...
Fixed it for ya.
So, Beach is good because you were there and say it's good. And I say it's bad because multiple people who have opinions I actually respect have been and say it sucks. Enough photos and vids of the events held there over the years certainly back them up, but you not so much...
The thread title reads 2014, but this is for 2015-2016 National Champs. For 2014 you still get to go to the middle of nowhere Angelfire, which this past year had a whopping 10 cars in the parking lot on race day.
And USAC might need to fact check their claim of Mammoth being the venue of '96...
Truth...
Gee's run from 2010 would barely get through the quali rounds this year, if at all. That ridge is like an XC trail in comparison to the "heart" that Zink and Strait dropped into.
Adreau was my favorite to watch all weekend, just for the sheer speed and style he had down the upper...
More facts from Vital to go with the speculation ;-)

Let's hope the "new" team actually markets their "fastest" rider on the planet, because that certainly isn't happening right now.
I'm sure I will get some flack for this, but a certain team has had a golden opportunity for the past two seasons and has done nothing with it.
totally different photos and photographers....
DSLR on a pole getting taken out is Brian Finestone
Pinkbike Photo you are referring to was taken by Jens Staudt (and it ended as runner up in the PB contest)

Finally quit procrastinating and built a website for my photo portfolio. Lot's of MTB shots from some of the biggest events of the year.

I think a lot of people don't fully understand how gnarly the front face of the mountain is. Even spectators on site can't grasp it as they are not allowed up there.
Take it from someone who was sitting "in it". The routes that Sorge, Dorfling, Semunuk, etc took down the front face were...
I took this out for a thrashing at Whistler, and have to say was pretty blown away... some info/video to add to seb's awesome write up

Right... And none of them are in the top 15 overall WC standings so that's a pretty moot point
They have plenty else to work on before having a few extra runs down the hill will help any.
And once a field of WC riders tears into it there will be no resemblance to the original anyway (see...
