Places to rent DH bikes near Snowmass

I'm heading up to Snowmass for a conference this coming weekend. The last time I was up there (3 years ago) I did 3 or 4 XC rides but this time I wouldn't mind checking out the DH course. Couple questions: 1) Is the lift access running throughout the week for DH? 2) Are there any local...

    Velocity Body armor......

Our team has been using the Velocity Gear Armor for a season and will be using it again next season. For me it was about time to replace my well worn (and used) Dainese Gladiator suit (which I absolutely loved). The VG suit is nearly identical to my wife's old Dainese safety jacket. I...

    Trainers (xpost in lounge)

I've got both a Minoura Mag Trainer and a set of rollers. I find that the rollers are much more stimulating for me to ride because I have to concentrate on balance and smoothness. It seems like an hour on the rollers is a nice workout, whereas an hour on my trainer is torture (boring...). My...

B1 Woodbumble Plus - any thoughts?

Oddly enough the Woodbumble I had was set up with an '05 Shiver on it. Even with the front end up fairly high I still couldn't get it up in the air. The only other issue to be aware of is the an e13 guide will fit, but may require a small amount of shaving on the top portion of the guide to...

B1 Woodbumble Plus - any thoughts?

I actually had a chance to ride one this past weekend. I was pretty impressed with the bike even with it not set to my riding weight or style. Seemed very stiff laterally coming into corners. I didn't really notice as much brake-jack as I had expected, even coming from riding an Iron Horse...

Pictures of old and obscure suspension bikes

Eric Gruber has been rocking it at the Ontario Cup races this season. Weird concepts going on with that bike. I believe that when you apply the rear brakes the whole rear suspension system locks out. Can't figure out why that would be advantageous. Does sound like a tank for sure. Simon

    Sven Martin Injured in Whistler

I'd like to send my best wishes to Sven and Anke. I've only seen Sven in Synopsis but he seems like a great guy (very funny). Even my wife knew who he was when I mentioned his situation to her. Stay strong and get well soon. Simon

    Cutting a Michelin Comp 24.1

I agree. Got a set in my tool box, cut both of my comp 24's last year and love it (I say that like I can tell the difference...teehee!!). I just wanted to feel semi-pro for a bit of time. Simon

    toronto bike show 4x

I remember seeing that last year...OUCH!! We had fun in practise trying to make it through the course with 3 guys. We had some serious handlebar overlap. I even grabbed someone else's bar...(totally by mistake of course :sneaky: ) Too bad I suck at jumping... Simon

I found a couple of old Fox reducers that will probably fit the bill. I'll screw around this weekend and see what I can do. Simon

    Pink Surly Cancer Donation

Actually there exists a very non-invasive early screening test for prostate cancer. It is called the PSA (prostate-specific antigen) test. They look for this specific marker in the blood. Under normal conditions the prostate produces low levels of PSA. However there is an association between...

Asthma and DH racing in Socal

I think that it is important to note that the term exercise induced asthma is often missused. I am part of a large respiratory research group in Canada so I've heard far too many talks about this topic. Be sure to get a proper diagnosis from someone other than your GP. Sputum analysis is...

    What's that song in earthed?

What about the song that plays during the awards and recapping of the World's footage? It is a girl singing, but for the life of me I can't find it in the credits. Simon

    Adidas hematomas

Can anyone comment on the sizing of the Addidas Hematomas. I've got two pairs of Addidas shoes, both 9 US and will probably go with a 9 in the Hematomas but want to be sure that the sizing is comparable amongst different shoe styles. Any comments would be greatly appreciated... Simon

What bikes have 165mm x 12 mm rear ends?

Miko, I'll be there at the Blue Cup. I probably be at Blue riding this Sat. on Showcase picking my lines. As for the post at hand, I just built a new rear wheel on a Ringle Abba SOS hub that I picked up a little while ago. So I've got the two 165 mm x 12 mm rear wheels. I think the Ringle...
