Did they get rid of that silly free play modulation thing they were raving about last season? That was the worst technology ever in the history of brakes. "Yes, this portion of the lever stroke does absolutely nothing, awesome right?"
I have ridden thin pedals, I know what they feel like. No one is debating that they feel nice, but my $40 pedals feel close enough that it doesn't make a big difference.
And as long as these pedals are still aluminum there is still a good chance that they'll get torn up when I inevitably smash...
I think eventually we get carried away with making the pedals too thin. My $40 pedals are probably 25-30% thicker than these, but it's really not a huge difference when riding them. Let me know when super thin pedals aren't priced at $300+/season, because regardless of how thin they are they're...
What's out or coming out of last season? Also, where can I buy speed kings, it has all but disappeared from the internet...
Has everything moved to online race recaps with no more full length DVDs?
I've never seen a bike fall off the big lift at Jiminy, and my fancy powdercoat seems OK after riding the lift there a bunch of times. I have seen bikes knock around a bit near the top, but I'm sure my poor line choice has/will do more damage than the lift.
Either way, Jiminy was awesome when...
My Lyrik air is anything but plush. If your wife is concerned with plushness rather than performance/weight it would probably make more sense to buy a coil fork. Lyrik coil is still pretty light and has plenty of travel.
If the masterlink is popping open or coming apart it would likely be due to the chain being at an angle and putting too much stress on the masterlink. Is your chainline proper, or is it crooked and causing your chain to bind?
I haven't heard much about the elka other than what a few sponsored riders post, and they haven't been in this industry long. Who knows if they will stay? My argument based on longevity of a brand is ridiculous because elka is a bigger company? I don't think elka is any more of a cornerstone...
Why gamble? Buy a known quantity like the avalanche. Craig has been in this market for a long time and has always done it right. With the avy you know you'll be able to get parts and service for as long as you own the cartridge.
I've been riding a mini dh bike for the past couple seasons, and while it is pretty fun I am left wanting more aggressive geometry and a longer wheelbase. Trail bikes still aren't good enough to come anywhere close to the speed and confidence of a modern downhill bike.
These frames are, at most, only a couple of seasons old. It is possible that this one was abused heavily, but that is still not a failure one would ever want to have.
