BACK FROM THE DEAD! Did anyone ever compile a complete list of seals to rebuild? I keep googling and am not comin up with much other than the shaft seal and needle valve o ring.
Hello...I just picked up this new from my LBS for almost nothing...anyone know what year it is? I thought it was a 2005 but the 5th Element book says 2002. Also...assuming I get any ride time with the rear shock which seems to break constantly...what mildly affordable fork would ya,ll recommend?
Thanks for the reply...my only concern was that before I rebuilt it it sat 3-4mm higher, but I've since taken it back apart and there's nothing I can find to have caused it and the fork works fine so whatever. As to the oil in the coil leg, I believe the manual said to place the fork upside...
I know it's been awhile but I finally got to start riding again (shoulder surgery). Anyhow, RUFUS, thanks for the info, everything went together fine and you were right...the CB headset was a B**CH to install.
I changed out the oil and converted the Motion Control to make it adjustable at the crown instead of a bar mounted lever in my '08 recon 351 U-turn coil. The tech manual specs 30ml oil in the lower leg of the coil (left side) leg? I added the oil, but probably half of it drained out of the top...
RUFUS...I'm confused (might just be lack of coffee)...did you mean the CB headset is horrible? (you mentioned bearings and frame tolerances) or did you mean the Sunline V1 stem is horrible...and not that I have any reason NOT to believe you (after all I did post looking for info), but could you...
ok thanks guys....I read good and bad regarding the sunline and got one for only $18. I guess I'll know if it kills me...Any other opinions on a low stack stem? at 35mm or less I'm fine....or 40mm-ish and changing the headset which id rather not as it's a new cane creek. Thanks all...
awesome...I just looked too and my KORE B52 stem has a 45mm stack height and the sunline V1 AM stem has a 34mm stack height...11mm diff is 7/16" which should do the trick if I'm correct about it all...
working on my budget build '02 FSR xc...bought an almost new '08 RS recon u-turn for $50. The steerer tube is cut to 7", I knew it was gonna be close. My old fork had a 7.25" steerer tube. The new steerer comes up a little over halfway through my stem without spacers...any ideas? lower stack...
piecing together an '02 FSR XC...came with a blown Duke XC (rebuild kit on the way) and my buddy have me an almost new '00 or '01 SID XC...which one would be the better bet for an XC/light freeride Stumpjumper FSR? Thanks
Hello, I was recently given an '02 Spec. Stumpy FSR XC Disc (the blue and yellow one) for free. Only has two good riding seasons under its belt. The Rockshox Duke XC is blown (found a rebuild kit at jenson). The rest of the bike is in great shape. I have no idea when the horst link bearings...
