For all you "Car" guys... New Nissan (Datsun) 510

I am undecided on the styling, but I like the idea of Nissan recognizing the performance orientation of the nameplate. The 510 is the Bluebird which is called the Altima here. Light weight, RWD coupes would be a hell of a lot better than the current Altima, no matter how they look.

    De-Mid Schooling my '99 Specialized P.O.S.

Looks like I am more or less done... These Chase DeHart tires are pretty ignorant looking. I like them. This is about the only place on the bike where I added weight. The DeHarts are about 100 grams heavier than the Rim Jobs. The Ghost Pads look good, but they should call the clear ones...

    De-Mid Schooling my '99 Specialized P.O.S.

I am putting everything back together and these brakes are driving me out of my mind. I swear brake maintenance gets harder each time I do it. I know these Tektros are ****ty brakes, but I still can't believe what a PITA they are to work on. I don't understand how when I was 15 I could dial in...

    De-Mid Schooling my '99 Specialized P.O.S.

I didn't start this project in order to lose weight, (The frame itself has to be 8 or 9 lbs,) but as I was replacing parts, I couldn't help but notice that most of the new stuff is lighter. I weighed as much of it as I could on the digital scale, and it looks like I am losing just under a pound...

    De-Mid Schooling my '99 Specialized P.O.S.

I am glad you said this. I was about to go to town with the Dremel. I will leave them stock and try different pads. I got some Odyssey Ghost Pads, (Clear for front and black for rear,) that I am going to try. I have a linear cable and a regular slic cable. Would it be good to put the linear on...

    De-Mid Schooling my '99 Specialized P.O.S.

Thanks for the suggestions! 1. I have some JCPC pedals I bought a few months ago, I will try those out. I still have nightmares of slippery Welgos, and don't trust non-pinned plastics 2. The front brake is staying, I still like doing endos and rock-walks. I will lose the back brake before I...

    De-Mid Schooling my '99 Specialized P.O.S.

I recently got my son an entry level bike (Fit Inman 1B) and have started riding 20" again. It has become painfully clear that my old hoss needs some serious TLC. Well, actually I need to just get a new bike. This thing should have been put out to pasture a decade ago. But it is 2013, and I have...

    my liquid bike

I figured I was in the extreme minority with this one. I pretty determined to have a gyro/rear brake on my next bike, though.

    Fact & Fiction :: S&M Bikes

I always thought Slams came from GT Performer bars getting tweaked into a position with less sweep and Mad Dog getting the idea to make them like that, but with thicker tubing. I actually still ride my second set of GT 4-piece bars from '91, (First set from '89 were stolen.) They are just comfy.

I know the focus for these is dirt, but have any of y'all used a gyro on a feedback? The frame seems perfect in almost every way except for the lack of gyro tabs.

    Coin Bar End

Come to think of it, I didn't buy another set of bar ends after my Jives until I got those nifty Volumes in 2000. LOL, I still use the GT 4 piece bars from my '91 PFT on my 20"

    Coin Bar End

Yes, it was the zagnut-festooned Jive Handles that first came with bar ends. I distinctly remember those. They outlasted the grips. (Which had a decent lifespan themselves.)

Stem survey for my college thesis

I responded, but as most of my post threadless advent stems have worked, (In other words most of my problems back in the day were with wedge bolt stems,) I am not sure if my info is helpful.

    Mid-School Rules

Nice to see some flatland on a 24". Just more evidence to me that 24" is the way to go for my next bike. My 700c commuter is not happy with casual flatland at the bus stop; I'm bound to fold a rim soon.

    24 inches of love

I am pretty sure I want a 24". I have been lusting after a good 24" for over 20 years, ever since I had a 6 speed GT cruiser/MTB called a Hybrid, (Not to be confused with the 700c bikes) It is awesome to see the support 24"s get nowadays. My dilemma is figuring out where to compromise for the...

    Gyro Set-ups

After doing some googling of my own I discovered that my Primo Pervert is "Obsolete" and that all the cool kids are running dual uppers if they bother to run brakes at all.
