    question for you Audi owners

You can recover it, or even do better when you sell the car though. Here's some sample private party sales numbers for a 2006 Jetta with 100k miles from Edmunds. TDI - $9020 2.5 - $6158 So, $2860 more for the TDI. Buying new, the TDI costs $1800 more. So it more than pays for itself there...

    question for you Audi owners

Partially correct. Fuel smell hasn't been a problem at all. It's more expensive, but mileage compensates, and higher resale value later also makes up for it. Redline is at 5k, but it's worthless after 4k. If you leave it in full auto, most people won't notice the redline. But they will notice...

    question for you Audi owners

You must have a different engine than we do in ours. Power is adequate, but that's all.

what am I going to waste my money on now?

How about a Land Cruiser? As cool as a Land Rover, and will burn just as much gas, but might actually take you somewhere.

    Audi pads/rotors

I used Brembo rotors and Akebono pads on my Saab. They seemed to stop as well as OEM, and lasted longer.

    Waddayoudo with old parts?

If there's a chance it could be usable, I'll stick it out by the curb and put an ad on craigslist.

Custom stainless steel growlers - who's interested?

I was given one of the Portland Growlers for my birthday. It's a cool piece of ceramic. It doesn't get much use, unfortunately. A six pack of 12oz bottles is a total of 72 ounces, and it's hard to find one for more than $10, which comes out to about 14 cents per ounce. The growler is 64 oz...

Forum software change - feedback needed

It's probably not an option, it doesn't seem like Xenfora has it, but I've always preferred threaded forums.

How bad an idea is this?

On the snow tires subject, worth reading: http://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/features/tire-test-all-season-vs-snow-vs-summer.html They test acceleration, braking and turning. As expected, on snow, snow tires destroy the others. It's not tested, but on cold dry pavement, they should still be...

    Time to babble about brakes

I've never tried Shimanos. I had Juicy brakes (I think 7s) on a bike a little while ago and had some pretty loud squeal and shudder that I could never get rid of.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

I got dragged to the first hobbit movie and hated it. There's no way I'm paying to see another. The Hobbit was 300 pages. The LoTR books were 432, 352, and 432 pages. Those three were made into three movies, and the Hobbit with less material than any of them was stretched out to three? Makes...

    Winter riding

A friend of mine put small screws into some of his older tires. He seemed happy enough with them for winter, and it was dirt cheap.

    B6 Audi A4?

Something I've wondered about with cars like that - who do you take them to for maintenance and repairs? Is that something you're just going to have to handle on your own? Or are there shops out there that could handle something so far from stock?
