was several weeks ago, but I asked Jenson to price match BlueSky and they wouldn't b/c of OEM vs boxed product. Dude admitted the BlueSKy was a good deal, but said I might have a hard time if I needed something fixed/replaced under warranty. I ended up buying from Jenson at 129 b/c I had a ****...
I just turned mine into a single speed with a DMR tensioner and a Push'd Boxxer I had laying around. It makes no sense, but fun on the less rocky runs. And no chain slap!
I find it therapeutic to completely disassemble all of my bikes and meticulously clean them. Replace bearings and other small parts where needed. Tune, make minor upgrades, etc. While this could be done in a day or two, I try to make it an extended project. Lots of wrenching just for the sake of...
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the term "mineral oil" is a pretty generic term. Many mineral oils have additives, perfumes, etc that can cause harm to small rubber/plastic parts in brakes over time. At least that's how I rationalize spending more money on the branded stuff.
But...
Cut the hose down and pumped it 20-30 times with lever backed out as far as it would go from bar...
And it worked! I'm all set to bed these suckers in tomorrow.
Thanks again.
Well, my LBS is a ski shop, and it's 30 miles away. I'm sure they're fully equipped to work on my stuff, but I'm more inclined to do it myself.
Thanks for the tips though, I'm gonna hit the local hardware/grocery store and see what I find.
Just got a set from Jenson. The front hose is perfect length and the lever feels fine.
The rear hose is quite long and the lever goes to the grip when pulled. I was going to trim the hose length down, and I was hoping to do it without having to bleed because 1) they are brand spanking new...
DBag. I thought it was pretty funny. But I also still chuckle at fart sounds.
Good for CC for pokin' some fun. Too many people/brands take themselves too seriously.
Seriously.
Two things I like to do when I feel my riding (DH) gets sloppy:
1. Do a few runs on the hardtail (Imperial). It really makes me focus on line choice and fluidity.
2. Do a few runs without a chain. It really makes me focus on carrying speed through corners.
I realize I'm in the wrong forum...
I can look back and giggle at some of the dozens of bikes I've owned (Trek Y, Ellsworth Dare, San Andreas, etc), but the Evil has really stood the test of time. If it ever breaks, it will go on the wall next to my 2004 Canfield F1.
Recently revived. Not for sale. Sorry, OP.
Edit: It's a first gen, by the way. The frame is over ten years old. It started as a street-specific singlespeed with 24" Hookwormed Trailpimps and cromo cranks. And it's never been this clean. Ever.
