I just don't understand the whole monostay thing tho. It looks weak to me with all that sheer stress on the welds.
Man, the brits are making some very sweet, long travel hardtails. But what is up with the monostays?? Are they stronger? Don't see how they could be by putting all the stress on the weld.

I respect the helloutta DW's work. Hell, I've raced DH with a DRS on my bike! I just think that someone like him might appreciate peeps questioning his theories. No one wants to be surrounded by "yes" men all the time. He seems to question everything and that's good!

I like the .243 & Transition Trail-or-Parks allot. But they dont have the angles I'm looking for because they're built around shorter forks. I don't want it to be too raked for my tastes.
Aztech makes some of the best steel HT's and FS's bikes in the world. If I go custom, it will be an Aztech. Sometimes I get to ride with the builder. Dude is fast as hell, down to earth and makes amazing bikes.
I'm looking at getting a steel hartail and putting my 2002 monster T on it. I'm hoping I can find one that can take a 3.0/26 rear. I also want a steep(69d) HA with 7inch fork.

I was able to use both. It worked out great only there's more of my bb sticking out of the non drive side. I'll keep messing with it until it's perfect. It's no fun but man what a stiff set of cranks!!
Great info. My LBS and I struggled with this for 2 hours on Friday trying to line up my DRS & Diablous on my 02 Stinky Deelux.
