    any one try narrow/wide on a 9 speed chain?

    I've been running a 30t raceface narrow/wide on a Shimano 9spd drivetrain for several months with no chainguide and a conventional derailer. I ride pretty aggressively and have dropped the chain only 2 times in that period, both following a substantial jolt, so I'd say it's doing its job quite well.

    Definately two years max, even on EA70s. I wasn't worried about it, until I snapped mine clean in half coming out of a berm last week, after 3 years. Just replace them. Having a handlebar snap is one of the worst things that could possibly happen.
