There's no reason for a chainring to have a bevel. It should be perfectly flat on one side and have a recess on the other for the bolt head/nut flange.
I guess you mean the Kitsuma Air? It's a wee bit lighter than the Kitsuma coil shock and well, it's a coil shock and they aren't light in general. I don't see that stopping a lot of folks from putting coil shocks on trail bikes.
On the contrary, the XTR drivetrain components are ridiculously durable. It's true that the stuff is a bit lighter than XT (which I agree is the workhorse group) but higher quality materials really do add up to much longer wear. I have, by my best estimate, over 4k miles on an XTR cassette that...
This is correct. And FWIW Ibis is speccing 55mm chainlines on all of their bikes - even though some still get delivered with 52mm chainline cranks. It's got to be a faster wearing setup on a boost rear end and I'm not a fan.
Not going to argue on the CS length (size 3 and larger should probably scale up a bit), but I really don't get the HT length griping. It has very comparable stack heights to its contemporaries, bikes that have been well reviewed with no mention of the front ends being too low. Y'all do realize...
I've had 5 bikes from 2 different manufacturers with trunnion mount shocks and zero issues. I'll take a brand that can make straight frames - not saying that Transition can't, every other bike they make but the Spur has a trunnion shock.
Same. Don't really care for the switch to a non-trunnion shock either - that thing is gonna eat upper shock Igus bushings. Sick looking bike otherwise.
The XTR cranks don't use the standard 2 pinch bolts/compression bolt that most all other Shimano cranks use. That wave washer is part of the compression ring and it works amazingly well. It is just turned by hand to preload the bearings and stays put. No split ring with a tiny bolt like most...
