Hahaha, best way to get the message across to your ex that she needs to move the hell out. "Well, Joe moves in tomorrow so you might wanna pack your **** up."
Good times
Well, distilling is illegal and I for sure can't help you with anything that has to do with that.
BUT, if you wanted to make your own wort, well that's easy. The biggest thing is having a good thermometer. Pretty much crush up grains, add hot water, let it sit for an hour at 150*-155*, then...
Citra IPA and Coffee Stout on tap, American IPA and Vanilla Bourbon Porter bubblin away. Brewing up a Red IPA and Brown Ale tonight.
Fermenting in kegs worked like a champ, minus slightly lower final product it's well worth the time and hassle saved. And space so now I can have 4 batches...
Gives you a better idea of how simple it is under there. The kegerators I used 1/4" foam insulation and some reflective tape around the wood on the inside, not sure if it is worth it or not, although the ferm chamber stays mid 60's vs high 30's.
You probably don't want to mess with drilling through fridge walls and risk hitting a line, that's just me though. Whatever route you decide let me know and I can just price out all the parts you'd need on www.ritebrew.com , you'll save a good chunk of change over those all-in-one kits.
Yeah there ya go, forgot I posted all that up already.
I'll take a pic of the inside of my ferm chamber that's not all dolled up when I get home, you'll see just how easy it is.
Collars are only as hard to make as you want. Some people get real fancy, since I live in an apartment I just had Home Depot cut the wood to length, use L-brackets to make the collar. Drill, stain, then more L-brackets to screw directly into the lid and silicone in the gaps. Found some clear...
Some chest freezers have a set screw in the thermostat that you can dial back to keep it around 40*F without swapping anything out.
I've bought three off Craigslist, turned two into kegerators and one into a fermentation chamber. Haven't had any issues, usually spend $50-$75 for one in good...
Are you using a standard garden hose? Grab one of the ones for an RV, they shouldn't have any off flavors.
You can also buy a garden hose attachment (i guess you call it) with a barb on the end and just use standard tubing. Make sure it the nice brass one that swivels though, that first IC I...
It's all about timing, I don't have anything fancy - typical cooler mash tun, Bayou burner and stove. You do need an extra pot or two that can hold additional strike/sparge water. Also, brew your larger grain bill first, the second brew you heat up strike water on the stove.
Start a typical...
If this works half as well as my drunk self thinks it will, i'm gonna be psyched and have doubled my capacity.
Kegged Citra Blone, Maibock, and bottled my hop experiments. Motueka is fuggin killer, but we already knew that.
Bottled off the rest of the Coffee Stout from the keg, then...
Wanted to try out some different hops. Did a standard mash with 12lb Colorado 2-row, 5oz Acidulated. Split that into three 2.5gal boils trying all with .1oz Magnum FWH, then 15, 10, 5, 0 additions of Glacier, Falconer's and Motueka, each addition split up to hit 45ish IBU's respectively, 1.055...
I helped them build that beer garden, glad you like it :) Gonna be brewing with them sometime in the near future too, should be fun. Great group of people they've got there, and the beer's pretty damn good (which is important)
I'll be helping out opening day on Saturday - they'll have a...
Do it, pvssy. Things fall apart and you can sleep on my couch.
I got my current job before moving out here, but only by a couple weeks before I told myself I was just gonna wing it and see what happened.
UberSausage too. They're usually at Prost, half the reason I go there so often.
My office recently started having the Crazy Good food truck come twice a week. It's only Medium Good though.
