erm...
i used maxxis and then went to michelin and can honestly say i was amazed. although michelin are expensive.
now i punctured last week, a massive snakebite through my michelin AT24. so as it was worn too, i thought new tires...
i bought minion DH 2.5 UST f&r.
no reason why, but see...
ps. the best thing i EVER did was trade in my Blue Demo9. The custom one a few of you claimed was photoshopped!! I traded it in for my SX trail. I mainly ride DH 80:20 trails. Bit sketchier, but way more fun!
nice stuff! i have those forks on my mini dh bike, sx trail. and although i might like a giant / ironhorse for the odd dh line, the mini dh'er can handle it all anyway. these bikes do everything.
mini dh'ers ftw!
erm..
wheels?
these are cx rays on 819's with ti hubs, tubeless
atlas are pretty light
ti rails on the saddle. my bar and stem combo doesnt get much lighter.
its also a small frame
well yeah i guess it's not the approach for everyone, but 40psi and 2.5" tyres are on too! nope, the pressures aren't quite that high, but i'm just saying what works for me!
As for the 819's.
I've ridden them on a lot of man made DH, but mostly natural trails, i.e. 1/2 ft wide singletrack at 3000m+.
plenty of rocks / snow / loose boulders, and nothing MADE for a bike, so i'd say they've had their fair share of boulders.
To be fair there's a slight knock in each...
oops. guess i shouldn't have ridden north shore and the french alps for weeks, including several avalanche cup courses and some of the gnarliest dh known......
seem alright to me.
tubeless too ;) michelin 16 and 24.
oh ps...
its on an sx trail, with 66 rc2xs up front. was funny to catch up...
this is so tiring, coming onto US forums and hearing constant crap talked about T.E. and Ellsworth Bikes.
My only ever Ellsworth is a Specialist. Everyone who has ridden it has sighed once they got on their own bikes again.
There is simply nothing like it. I abuse it, it hasn't given up...
low rise EA70...
GREAT IDEA
888s on my demo9 were still too high...so
no azonic shorty, bought a dangerboy ak47, lowered stem stackers, aireal drop crowns, low rise bars lowered the front by over 3". amazing, now handles like butter.
yeah everything on that bike that's blue, bar the saddle, and grips obv. are custom anodised. cost me under $40 (but in the UK), but then i know an anodiser who does a great deal of anodising for some bike companies, and loads of other companies.
likewise, threads like this and in fact the entire ellsworth thing are so over the top over the internet. the bikes originally, and even now each frame is still the lightest in its class. i.e. moment was lighter than the 6-pack etc etc.
never have i heard more crap talked by the "haters"...
