not sure exactly how many engagement points it has but i KNOW its more than ****mano. i've had mine for 2 years now...NO complaints at all except its a freakin tank. freehub was quiet when i got it but it has progressively gotten louder as the years go by...now its louder than my xt but...
sure you can, just need a 10x1 axel of the proper length and swap. if you dont know how to do this im sure your lbs could do it for you for a decent price.
go to your lbs, ask them if they have any junk cassettes layin around, break them apart and use the spacers (you'll need 10 or so depending on the cog you choose) and check out the surly cog...cheap, and awesome. i have the 16t and the 17t and they have a very wide base and the teeth are offset...
if the dropouts still have a good bit of paint on them grind that away, and convert to bolt on and run at least a chain tug on the drive side...you will have no more problems with randomly losing chain tension
transition trail-or-park, 4130 chromo (yes....quite beefy at 7.9 lbs), quite bombproof and a great company to support. gets my vote...especially with a price of $399
i would have to second ALL of that...coob was waaaaaay cool to me when myself and crackien rolled out there...being a rusty beginner at best i was lagging all day, coob, his girl, and his friend carlo made the day soooo much more enjoyable for both of us...i hope to get there as much as possible...
i have one of each, a surly 1x1 thats about 23 lbs and a pitbull (planet x) thats about 35, set up very similar to what youre talking about doing. i trailride the pit often and find its a lot of fun...for endurance and distance though i'd take the 1x1. whatever you decide to do it'll be loads...
went to the spot today, pretty cool, little rickety, kinda sketchy, LOTS of potential! theres spots that have yet to be tapped in this place that are the tits! hoping to hit it up wed. morn to scope some more and i'd love to hook up with some of the locals there to see what you guys think. pm...
wow...not to sound like a tool but thats kinda pricey...is that for an actual ride on the lift or is it a shuttle pass? and def. post some pics if you can...i really want to see the place before i drive down for the day.
stp-2 comes with a zoke, the ironhorse chimp however comes with an sr. i know the stp-2 is on sale at performance for less than 500 bones right now too
a small axel spacer between the chainring and the spider, and a larger one between the bashring and the spider should be all you need. you'll probably want to get the longer MRP chainring bolts. qbp stocks them. with those you should have no problem running whatever bashring you want
