I am the guy that did the "ghetto fix" for my demo 9. Basically what i did was mimic the mount of the swinger. If you look at the swinger mount, their is no DU bushing, only an 8mm hole for the mounting bolt. So what i did was make a reducer from a standard stainless tube that presses in the DU...
I had the same creaking problem with a King also. The headset is about 2.5 years old and was originally installed in a Bullit. I then sold the bullit and reinstalled the headset in my new Demo 9. I soon developed creaking in the headset. The fork i am using is a shiver DC. After many hours of...
I just purchased a 6.6 and love it!! It is a perfect light freeride, all mountain bike. It climbs well and decends as good as my old bullit. I do have mine set up pretty heavy at 36 lbs, but my finished weight will be around 33 lbs. Here is a pic.
I am running the stock springs, with 7.5 wt oil at 80mm from the top with the springs out and fork and cartriges fully compressed. This gives a nice feel over the small stuff with plenty of bottoming resistance. BTW, i weigh 170 lbs without gear.

I think you are better off taking the bike on the plane with you. My friends and i are flying from Arkansas and taking our bikes with us. It is however $80 each way per bike, but at least you dont have to deal with customs holding up your shipping. The bike will go through customs, but at least...
I bought my Demo 9 spring from manitou to make sure it was going to work. When i got the spring it said RCS on it. I would go there to get it. I am using a 400lb spring and its $219 i believe. Go to www.coilspring.com and check them out.
Its kinda crappy that the six way requires modifications to fit. I am glad somebody is having the same prob. as me. I was begining to think my frame has problems. It looks like i may have to get the DHX. Thanks for your replys.

Has anybody tried this combination? Will the shock fit? My swinger 6-way will not fit on the high bottom bracket setting, it is hitting the low speed compression adjuster on the bottom of the ribcage. I have been considering the DHX as a replacement for the swinger. Anybody have any thoughts...
I have an 04' demo 9 and my evil srs bolted right up using the iscg adapter that comes with the guide. All you need to do is install it backwards so the machined out side faces the chainrings. It works perfect and i have a great chainline.

You may also want to try and remove your bar from the stem. Then clean it and the stem. Then apply a very thin layer of grease to the bar. Reinstall and torque bolts to spec. I have had problems with my bars creaking like that. It was cured by doing just as i said above. Give it a try, it may...
From a physic view, it seems that body position and cockpit would have the most effect on if a bike is nose heavy or not. I think the additional weight of a swingarm would be minor compared the the amount of weight that can move from your body. For example, if you have a long stem on your bike...
I too have a question regarding this thread. Is their an ideal axle path or is it a preference thing. I did notice going from a bullit to a demo 9 how much smoother and less feedback the demo has. Anyway, that is my question. What is the ideal path or is their any?

Andy,
Do you have pics of all your pedal models. I am interested in purchasing some of your pedals, But i would like to know what they all look like. I have seen the GH's but not the lenosky or race pedal.
Thanks
Mike at somefear can hook you up with some nice decals for your shiver. He used my old shiver stickers to get the shape correct. He can do anything you want and will look better then factory. Here is a pic of what he did for me.
My friends and i will be staying in whistler from july 29th to aug 11th. We plan to ride whistler for about 4 or 5 days an the shore the rest of the time. Our group is riding:

I'm going to whistler and the shore for 2 weeks on thursday. Whistler will be my virgin DH ride! What do you all think of the demo 9?
I built her with a shiver, Arrow DHX wheels with ringle hubs, XT quad pots, raceface shore cranks, evil guide, king headset, mich tires.
Custom Shiver...
If you run a road deraileur, you must run a road cassette because the parallelagram is smaller then a mtn. der. The longer cage will allow for multiple chainrings up front. If you are running a single chainring, i would run a short cage. The chain tension on a short cage is much tighter. My...
