I won't know the answer until late next week. The guy building my newest wheels said Nevagals on Flows is what works best for him here in San Diego. I trust he knows what's up :thumb:
It's actually a tightly machined spacer that held the bottom race.
The '03.5 Z150 has a beefy azz steering tube like a piece of structural steel. I machined a few different size spacers to try just for kicks.
Even with that big one it never flexed or creeked. I didn't ride it with those...
I still have mine. Ridden hard everywhere including resorts. Z150 fork on it works great. It has not suffered from breaks, creaks or loose pivots.
Just replace that psylo with a cheap Marzocchi AM and enjoy until you can afford a higher priced frame.
Here's my XC bike. '06 Preston (large). Shown with 66 set at 150mm but I'm runnig a Z150 now cuz it mo-betta, Hope M-4's, Kings, MAG30's with 2.7 Mobster Maxxpros and Intense DH tubes and a Gravity Dropper of course.

Things should be looking better soon at Lake Henshaw. New vegetation is sprouting right now. I know it's pretty tempting to forge new lines since you can see so much potential that was hidden before by the thick brush. Same thing is happening at the other end of the lake where the xc guys ride...
I built mine and it was easy. Bought parts at Beyond Bikes and sat in front of TV with beer and was done in a couple of hours. Perfectly true still after many miles.
