Best North East Location to try on protective gear

In the market for a new compression suit and helmet, as my gear is getting pretty tired, and my wife is thinking of getting her own geat instead of renting. My search to date for shops with gear to try on as been pretty disappointing. Obviously, the mail order thing is an option, but I would...

    Costa Rica: DH Experience?

My wife and I are heading to CR this winter for 13 days. During out planning, we stumbled across potential MTB options. It would be great to get some testimonials about the riding, experience with guide companies, the terrain, and anything else you might have experienced. We plan on taking in...

    Budget drivetrain overhaul

I am not sure what was stated throughtout the rest of the thread, but I think you are the right path with the 105 (road). I ran a used ultegra short cage (all metal, very short cage compared to a mountain mech) and had zero issues (12 races, countless freeride). The only issue, the mech...

East coast night DH?? Looking for interest.

Some facts... 1. Arguably the best DH racing nation in the world holds an endurance DH race (Great Britian/Fort William). http://www.nofussevents.co.uk/event/Endurance-Downhill/1810/ 2. The East Coast has the largest number of races per mile traveled of any place in the US. Count...

    fox 40 play

I had the same idea and bought Fox bushings through Enduro. It quickly became apparent that this wasn' t Going to be easy when I attempted to change them. I called Fox to see if there was a special tool that would help. The Fox rep stated that they have a one off $700 tool for their needs...

    Enduro Fork Seals

As mentioned above, the break in period was fairly significant for me (Fox 40 and 32 Van RLC). The long term testing showed no appreciable gain in performance compared to stock Fox seals, both in longevity and day to day need for maintenance. Lastly, if using them impacts the manufactures...

Fort William World Cup - Live Thread

Cole has been quietly moving up the ranks the last year or so. The other two MadCats showing some restraint? How many extra frames are lugged around by these teams?

Fort William World Cup - Live Thread

More impressed with Needles. Must have been the intense training and racing on the East Coast (USA!).

Watching the live timing, funny results, and subsequent corrections is entertainment in itself. Julian was showing a minute plus on the field for a few seconds.

Are Western DH racers faster than EC racers?

Starting in 2009, classes are broken up a bit differently. Per Todd S., competiviness should increase by eliminating the Semi-Pro class. The semi-pro's were given an option of signing in as a Cat 1 or Pro. This might explain a part of it. Maybe you are racing against a population of...

    where's the Bromont 2009 thread?!

Laughable. There is a minimum expectation. Once you achieve that, you can talk about the necessity of advertizements.

World Cup #2 - La Bresse, France

Who would be interested in a DH specific chain, 5-7 speed cogset, and replaceable stainless chainwheels? Stuffing road bike tech into DH isn't rational. But what do you expect from a company who went into a partnership with Lehman Bros.?:lighten:

Any reason to compete in a series?

Unless you are racing in the pro or Cat 1 Jrs, going to every race is not necessary to do well in your class. For the classes other than Pro/Cat 1 Jrs, the majority of racers just hit local events. The economics are similar for all people...why go into massive debt just to win a Cat 2-4...
