According to Marzocchi techs, you can run air preload in place of a spring. But when you do this, obviously you have an air spring and you suffer the all the negatives with an air spring (like increased ramp up, fork wanting to top out). Its also really hard to dial in the pressure because the...
sids are garbage. even for xc... trials... no way. I think an older marzocchi 80mm like the atom race or marathon are the ticket. Stong, light and low maintenance. Leech has good results with em too.
Wondering if anyone has this setup, or can provide input on the pro's or cons. I dont see much difference between this and a freewheel on the back/chainring on front.
Also wondering if running a trials ss is a good idea.
I don't think there is any question that CU has a strong academic reputation (while at the same time having a party school reputation). If you ever leave Colorado to find a job, you will find that more people have heard of CU.
This is especially relevent when considering the strengths of CU...
The ladies man, the ladies. CU kills in this department. If mines had ladies this hot the suicide rate would be way, WAY lower. Im missing the warm weather and lack of attire.
Surprised how crappy the riding is here in Boulder. Im going to make some headway with trials I think.
I just wanna say that the beer gut starts between 25 and 26, not 30. I weigh 150 and Im growin one. I bike commute everyday, and ride 30-40 trail miles a week.
I think it was that stint in Florida where I drank about 12 beers a day for 3 months. And it was mostly guinness.
Its a beautiful frame, and I don't doubt that the carbon provides a smooth ride. Ive just heard framebuilders say that the weight savings of carbon are negated(or even weight added) by the necessary reinforcement(steel, in this case).
Stick with 853. Im loving my gunnar rockhound, short stays for traction, and long top tube for out of the saddle stints. I would never buy an aluminum hardtail, not even a road frame.
Oh yeah, I would ditch the hayes and run shimano XTRs, and since you already have a razor blade for a saddle get the SLR Vanox at 135grams. Its fairly wide and flexes for comfort.
Rebuild wheels with old 521 CDs. Replace cranks with Deus or old turbines(If your less than 210). Replace Pedals with shimano DX. ProTaper bar. Some of this is just personal preference and past experience.
You might be better of with a custom steel hardtail thats fitted to your liking. Otherwise I would just say get one that fits and has short chainstays. Hardtails with short stays get way better traction, also wheelie, manual, and bunnyhop better. If youve got a wad, Ive always liked the Moots ybb.
whats the price total of just the shifters and brakes? The best is nice, but these days it seems hard to justify. My X-7 shifters have worked awesome for me on my dirt jumper.
I pulled some out of a dusty box along with a flat bar and put em on my single. Thought the exta leverage would help, but with a wide riser bar the extra leverage seems negligible. Steering with a narrow stance sucks and bar ends seem to inhibit no-handers.
Buy a nice steel hardtail, like a gunner, and throw some nice components on it. So much better than some jankofide short travel suspension flexer. It will climb better too.
