I've been living in the Pacific Northwest for 10 years and am pondering a move back east. What resorts now offer lift access terrain in the Northeast?
I've got the following so far...
- Highland
- Attitash
- Hunter
- Plattekill
- Wyndham
- Whiteface
- Mount Snow
- Sugarbush
- Jiminy...
I sincere thanks to Justin. A lot of hard work went into building the BBTC and getting the ball rolling and the latest of 're-investing' his income back to the BBTC to fund the interim ED, that's super cool.
To be more specific, the upper part, from the lift to the huge step-down/step-up is open. Then from the containers all the way to top of Dirt Merchant is open.
The entire middle section of Freight Train has been demolished. It's a bummer when you're riding along and you see the bridge...
Today it threatened to rain all day with broken clouds, but it never did. Trails are in good condition, though there are definite potholes here and there.
I'm from Washington, tough not to be in the Luke camp.
That said, it'd be awesome to have multiple US riders successfully racing the World Cups. Maybe, just maybe, it'll help grow the sport here in the states.
Semi-pro downhill and dual slalom. No Super D for me. Did 3 events last year (DH/DS/MX) and it gets hectic. It'll be nice to do only 2 events and be able to enjoy more of the show this year...
I spent the holidays learning how to paint helmets. Here's my first attempt. Used PPG paint, though I forget the specific colors. The yellow and black are a metallic finish. Amazing how much prep time it takes, but the end result is totally worth it.
At least you stay warm in the bunny suit!
The tire set-up = mud tires or something with spikes and large side lugs. Maxxis Swampthings are one option. Another option, as Mr. Grubworks mentioned, is Nokian Gnazzi's. I saw a bunch of folks using the Nokian's last year.
DH bike is the way...
As for the Project 529 crew, I'm tentative, though I believe Nate and Matt were planning on racing.
If the snow continues to dump like this, I'm going to have to head to the hills for that other riding.
As an aside, NORBA is bringing back Dual Slalom this year in a much bigger way. 7 total events and dual at 5 and mountaincross at 3 of them (Both DS/MX at Mt. Snow, VT). Add in Sea Otter and I'd say that DS is making a serious comeback...
Project 529 was out an enjoying the day for sure. Marsh, Ty, and I along with special guest Super Bunny made the trip. As Mut described, the course was a blast and Stevens put on a good time. It'd be sweet if they did a dh winter series...
Where were you Five?!
Grub, with a camera like...
Would be cool if you scheduled a race between the U.S. Open and the Sugar Mountain NORBA National.
For us west coast folks making the trek across the country, June 3/4th is an open weekend on what will be a month long east coast trip (U.S. Open May 26-28th, Off Weekend, Sugar Mtn Jun...
TBD for me. We shipped the Xbox 360 versions of Xbox Live and Xbox.com this week so I've had 30 hrs. straight of work on both Mon/Tues and Thurs/Fri. I'm beat to hell right now. I've got the chameleon all built up and ready, so if i don't make it this weekend, i'm out there next for sure.
