Fox 40's, issue with arch snapping????

You do realize that no fox fork has been for dh until now? XC riders are not a good indicator of how strong a fork design is.

    Whats so awesome about Avy's

Except that Avalanche doesn't have quaility problems, doesn't have poor reliability, and while Craig may be hard to talk to, doesn't have bad customer service. Avalanche might not be the be all and end all, but it is a much more solid company than Stratos.

    Whats so awesome about Avy's

What shock model did they copy? I have never seen an MX shock that is dimensionally identical to an avy. If Stratos was as "capable" as Avalanche as a suspension maker, they would have designed their own scaled-down mx shock, rather than copy the avy piece for piece.

    Whats so awesome about Avy's

Is the avalanche a direct copy of an mx shock? No. There are two points here: 1) The Stratos is a direct copy of the avy, whereas the avy is a scaled down mx shock, not a replica of a specific model 2) even if the avy was an exact copy of an mx shock (which it isnt), they are not a competitor...

An upright fork would be great. I have a DHF now. I want a fork that rides like my DHF but is lighter. I feel this can be achieved with an upright design, since you don't need to have huge tubes to achieve stiffness.

Is it fair for a company to do R&D and then someone else just copies it? Maybe I'll copy your frame and sell it.

my frineds and I are starting a dh team

To be sponsored (and get stuff for free) you have to be very good. Being sponsored is a good thing, but it doesn't come easy. It may happen eventually for you, but only time will tell as you progress. If you wan't better bikes and parts, you might be better off just getting a job and buying...

my frineds and I are starting a dh team

What's so hard about making a team? You come up with a name and ride together. Use that name when you enter races. Simple really. As fork making teter-totters... Go to a playground and look at the teter-totters there, and then improvise based on your supplies.

Do you even ride bikes? :nopity: Avys feel "overdamped" like mx shocks... how is this bad?

    Whats so awesome about Avy's

It wasn't just a me-too product... it was a direct rip-off. Yes, it may have the same design, but it has Stratos **** warranty, build quality, customer service, and so on.
