Blackrock tends not to get washy when its hot and dry. There may be an occasional place where a trail was cut late in the spring and didn't get ridden in good before summer, but the trails tend to just get hard in the summer. Some of the new banked corners on Bonzai may have some loose, but...
I think in the last 4 months the only significant building has been on the new section of Bonzai Downhill - its a flow trail with low jumps and big banked corners. Not much has been happening because the dirt is too dry to pack and chainsaws were banned. If you've been out there since the ET...
Nice and beefy, very nice. Comes stock with 5.5", upgrades to 7". 1.5 headtube. Bought mine for $600, spent about $200 to upgrade pedals, hydraulic brakes, etc. Solid bike.
If you're like me you see this as an excuse to build the Heckler as a trail bike and buy something bigger to go with the Shiver. :-)
Such is the thought pattern of a parts whore...

Both legs are done and working great, here's the condensed version of what to do (use your brain in case I f'd anything up when writing this).
1. Buy your seals & wipers from Enduro. Great people to deal with, good product.
2. Get their Shiver manual...
Emailed Scott at Enduro and got a prompt reply: Small oil residue initially is normal - needs some ride time for seals to bed in properly. If it persists or get worse, then there's a problem.
First ride tonight on new seals. Stantions have a very thin bit of oil on them - just enough that it leaves a very light film on your finger if you run it down the stantion, and there's an ever-so-slight oil ring where the suspension reaches its deepest point. Its nothing like the dirty ring...
I figured from what people have said and the fact that the enduro seal kit only includes about 4 parts that it couldn't be that hard, so I took a look at the 2001 manual and gave it a try. Well, if you can put a few pieces back in the order you took them out, you can do this. My only concern...
2003 Scott High Octane FR - need to remove rear triangle to repaint but can't figure out how it comes apart. Anyone ever take one of these apart? Thanks.
Anyone have experience with taking one of these aprt? Scott's site just says you need a "special tool, go to your dealer". It isn't just a pinchbolt(s) and I'm having a devil of a time figuring out how to get the rear triangle off... Thanks.
Is your first name Brett? Keep coming to Falls City and you'll be knee deep in riding and drinking buddies in no time. If you're who I think you are, we're even starting to recognize you. :-)
On busy weekends we see a smattering of ladies riding, but it might be harder for your missus to...
I was looking for info on this today and ebay has tons of speakers for sale that are designed to fit inside helmets for skiiing/motorcycling etc. They are generally flat and designed to be inlaid a smidge at the ear holes. Most of them come with an easy-access mute and/or volume control...
Anybody had any experience with these? I'm wondering how well they work with just the tensioner and nothing along the top like a Dewlie has, for example. I know Heim makes a tensioner that works similarly (just a lower pulley) so maybe this thing works fine? Anyway, just looking for someone...
Get yourself a stout 5" travel (minimum) bike that is suitable for freeride but not full-on. For me it was a Switch. It was used, cheap, and you can anything on it that you're going to have the balls to try for a while. Then, as you learn and progress you will figure out what you want to...
Just bought a 2002 because i always wanted to try one. Was able to tune the compression perfect after just one ride, rebound externally adjustable. I've been running a 888 but the Shiver is plusher and feels lighter and easier to maneuver so I'm putting the 888 up for sale. Good fork, but the...
