I had to add this skinny bridge when you get to Cle Elum. Its about a 10 foot drop down to the bottom. The pictures came out a little fuzzy as I took them after the sun went down. If the last drop wasnt enough crossing this bridge should be interesting. I noticed all the tire tracks veered...
It some respects its a totally different trail. Lots of the old trail of course. The big drop at the top has been replaced by the drop at the bottom. There have been some interesting reroutes but the up and down dips and the smooth hard pack trail is still there. I think anyone who rode it...
Since the original post a woman broke her back in a couple of places on the first stunt at the top. Mike has also done a lot more work on the trail. He somehow managed to put a lot more flow in the trail than was there a couple of months ago and has knocked in a couple of new stunts...
That was a great story. I am of the mind that someone needs to beat the crap out of the guy. The cops cant do it but really in Pullman-Moscow guys shouldnt be getting away with stuff like this without have the crap knocked out of them. Thieves get the crap knocked out of them all the time in...
If you havent been lately the trail has changed quite a bit. It definitely has a different flow and much of the trail is new. From top to bottom the trails is 3 miles long and 1350 foot drop. The bike up assuming you arent doing a shuttle is also about 3 miles.
This first piece has been...
Injuries are definitely a bummer. I posted awhile back that I tore my ACL and both meniscus ligaments and after getting the knee scoped I opted not to get the ACL repaired. There were a couple of other riders that posted the same thing about not repairing the ACL. Its probably something you...
Does that mean the east coast isnt going to be represented by any RM's? I am signed up again on a four man team. I think we will be shooting for 17 laps or top half. Sounds slow until you actually are racing. Its tough getting out at 3 am. :twitch:
I am guessing then that you will be getting in around 10 laps with Lynda W's help?:monkeydance: . I havent decided what exactly I will be doing. I think I will be riding a full suspension rig. Since you have a coach I guess the legendary "Desert Dan" will be my coach. I might be...
I think Douglas has it right Lynda "freak" I am going to stick with the figures because those are realistic goals for most bikers under 35. You had a nice race last year. I thought your race and Gregg and His Go-Hoes as well as the guy on the Single Speed were probably the most...
The fastest bikes on the course are geared hardtails, at least during the day. A lot of guys bring two bikes running a hardtail during the day and a FS at night. If you look at this years top five SS racers you would conclude that SS bikes are as fast as geared. But if you look at 2005 you...
Obviously if you do two man you need as much stuff as you have. I might wear two pairs of shorts running four man and two shirts. Thats only 6 hours of riding.
Two years ago at OP is one everyone got caught with not enough gear. It rained a good part of the 24 hours. The really smart...
In case somebody is wondering what the Old Pueblo kind of looks like for camping here is a pic. Its a lot of fun. Ok heres the gold standard for anyone looking to race in the Old Pueblo.
If your under 35 years of age run a lap in 1:06, if you are female run it in 1:12. For everyone over 35...
Hope you get someone fast for your "ringer." Like I said the team that won last year had a fast guy like you and then a crazy fast guy. If you looked at the way they ran laps it appeared that whenever they started to slip the real fast guy would pick up an extra lap. It was very competive...
I ran five laps on our four man team. It was 1:15, 1:17, 1:19, 1:24 and 1:29. My best lap was probably the 1:19 at night. I think I could knock off a 1:12 if I was the second man out. The 1:15 was the lead lap and I ended up pretty much walking to the bike since I cant run very well. My...
Glad to see everyone is still around and another year older and maybe another year slower-except for maybe Westy. I just won my first "expert" race of the year. It helped when the two fastest guys didnt show up for the final race of the year.
I have been thinking about...
I am talking the kind you buy for a 1$ for a pound of eight dogs made of chicken, beef, and pork. Think about it you get a pound of meat for a dollar. Most other meat cost $3-$4. I bought one of those cheap packs and ate one hot dog. That was enough. My neighbors dogs ate the rest. I...
I think right now four or five guys who usually ride $200 hard tails around are in a race to get to the river and find the bike first. They would have posted here first but they didnt have time. Sorry, gotta go....:)
Downhillers should probably remove their brakes from their bikes to get the full enjoyment of going "downhill". The water bars do make it kind of interesting going down, someone will always try to take one a little too fast and get launched. Last year the big bike category had a...
It was 26 years ago that St Helens erupted. If your between say 31 and 36 it was a pretty big deal. You would have been in grade school. Did you put together a scrap book of newspaper clipping and go collect some ash? Maybe you still have the scrapbook. My guess is that 80% of the member...
