SSinGA's recs are all decent. I rode a White Brothers last season. Prior to that I was on rockshox for about 3 years. The White doesn't have the whistles and bells (or knobs all over), but it does work quite well and comes stock with Enduro brand seals/wipers. With the new 20mm reba, I would...
+1, only I have only owned 2 :pirate2:
Typically the wheelbase is longer, so they aren't quite as snappy around tight switchbacks. Otherwise I see more advantage to 29er than disadvantage. That Specialized looks like a nice ride. I had the 26in version of it 2 years ago and it was a great...
Went to my 10yr last weekend. It was okay. But most of my friends are still in touch, so it was really just catching up with people that I don't care to stay in touch with. I was glad that I didn't get too trashed because most who did just looked a bit pathetic. The hot chicks were either...
Pretty strong and stiff.
250lb is a problem though. I am 240 geared up. I really like the pike, but if I get it more than 3-4' in the air it will bottom out. That is with the extra firm spring kit. I am really hoping that they pony up and add an air assist like marzocchi to help us big...
Definitely an older/xc-am crowd on mtbr. Good guys to ride with, but don't show up for a group ride on a big hit rig and expect to many others to be on the same type of bike. Most will bring xc bikes or 5" trail bikes. Nothing wrong with that though.
Honestly a lot of bay area trails favor...
If you wait long enough Fox will be releasing a Coil version of the 36 and it is black instead of poo brown. Best of both worlds and drop the weight weannie factor too.
Hit up the spooner shuttle to Mount Rose and ride the rim trail back. Great ride, just goes on for a few hours depending on the pace.
I can also recommend doing the kingsbury grade side of the trail as well. Long climb, but a long downhill when you head back too.
I would have to agree with the velo guys. Looks like the Pike is going to be a very good fork for 2005. Rockshox has updated their website for the 2005 products with more details. The multi-set platform really sounds nice. These forks are substancially less than the new Marzocchi and Manitou...
Nope, they have legitimate clutches. I saw these guys a few years back at Donner in Tahoe. Absolutely amazing to watch what these guys are capable of. They were free jumping up about a 7' rock face at one place by popping the clutch out and slamming the skid plate onto the vertex of the rock...
Good sequel, terrible cinematography, don't waste the money to see it at a theater. It was like they decided to can the correographer and just shake the camera to add a sense of confusion/action. If you want to know what Parkinson's looks like then chip $10 to the theater :(
As stated, check the Yuba site for some more options. No, cabins aren't the only way to go. This time of year it would actually be fine to use one of the near by campgrounds to cut down on expense. There are also several places in Downieville and Sierra City that have accomodations for 1-2...
