I'm old and slow, and I value my brain and have to be able to get to work on monday. So I love them, they're heavy and hot but the protection can't be beaten. I'm probably in the minority around here using one. A light lid might very well do just fine for all but the most major of crashes.
Different experience
Keystone, blown out, not as buffed, great big mountain riding
Trestle, better maintained, more of a designed trail system.
If it was me, start at trestle, if you love it come back, if you want to do something different head to Keystone for day 2. Have fun
No flaming, but some things to think about:
1) It's a big cost to get UCI inscription for ANY race, would be pricey for a whole series. Would riders be willing to accept an increase in price with no change in product besides UCI points
2)Tough to run 3 separate series without overlap with...
Agreed, and having ridden Beech, It's a great track (until the monsoons came and showed how little skill I have). Well thought out and got the best out of what they had to work with. Same with Sol Vista. It is a different experience on mountains with lots of vert, Not necessarily better, just...
Point well taken, but the opportunity to ride a world cup 4X cross (angelfire) doesn't come around too often. Hearndon and the Beech Mountain crew built a nice DS for last year's nationals and if would fit in the first 2 straights of the Angelfire course.
If they go back to the old courses, they're fine. Even with the Pepper spray section, the best pro time was under 5 minutes in 2011 at the MSC race. In 2010, half the field was under 5:00 (no pepper spray). Not certain what lap times are on the newer courses, but they've got lots of options...
Nice.... CJ timing has done the last 2 U.S. Nationals, almost every race of the last 5 years of the Mountain States Cup, as well as multiple high profile road races including the U.S. Nationals.....but they're not from bikes........
Pinkbike interview:
"When I was 14 I got a KX125 and we started taking my racing pretty serious. All my goals and focus went towards making a career out of motocross racing. By the time I was 16 I was right at the point where we were getting ready to make the jump to the pro class and...
All fine points, but the UCI recognized event is 4X
For any other cycling discipline the national championships would normally showcase the best talent as well as providing riders with additional high level competition prior to representing their country at international events. Just because...
This is an average load of 12 (6 across the tailgate and 6 up above),can usually get 7 across the tailgate if they're DJ's or XC bikes. Busted up T2 pieces (died a valiant death at Bootleg) up above on thule crossbars. with a pad across the back. There's a Dakine pad in the picture, but I've...
Very real issue, I drive a dodge mega cab which I love for the interior room, and hate for it's 6 and 1/2 foot bed. Modifying the truck to a long bed hasn't been worth it yet. As much as I hate having racks and too small a bed, I really enjoy not having youngsters kicking the back of my seat...
At this time, it's not even on the USAC site as pending, doesn't mean that can't change.
Still looks pretty good doesn't it, USAC gets the nationals scheduled after the conclusion of then season, then has the winner of an as of yet unsanctioned race, chosen from a pool of no more than 5...
