I think that since the Ti springs have turns widely spaced and so more angle, they have a slight falling rate; not as linear as a spring with a closer pitch.
Thanks Ricardo,
Yeah the bicycle is a open text on the state of technical knowledge. There are so many way to acheive the same goal.
I like all machines from looms to skidders and helicopters...
I just read the text on the work of Alex Morgan in Decline Magazine, that was good!
and the frame...
Well, the appalache Réal is light, under 10 pounds with a regular steel coil, but what it is not is a race only fragile frame.
Jamie did a very nice and light build, but it still is a very strong and stiff serious downhill chassis.
Granite table flex measurements have shown its rear axle...
it is true that if you have to have a single crown, then the 1.5 is justified.
But I have seen 7'' SC with 1.125 steerers, I dont know if they are good...
The pivot on the Appalache Réal is slightly changed; dia. went from 12 to 15mm, fixing bolts are M8 and the bearing tension washers are...
I don't think much of the 1.5 headtube, but time will tell...
As for the rear spacing, we are planning a 150 x 12 swing arm.
I like narrow cranks but if 150x12 is widely adopted, we'll follow.
Again thanks everyone for the encouragement/advice, kind or not!
Most 2.75/ 8.75 shock will fit. Mine has a Avalanche, a Fox DHX fits.
production bikes (They will be available just after the btac show) have a Manitou swinger 6 way.
The 6.7'' travel will not use a hi pivot/pulley.
Flipside is right, 135mm hub, 73 BB shell, 9 in. travel, 16.5 chainstays, 14.75 BB height, frame weight with a steel spring is around 10 pounds. The pictures are courtesy of Jamie at Balfa UK and I will be with Yodo at the BTAC in Montreal.
Thanks to everyone! and see you soon!
well it is finally done, a new shop and a new frame.
Short rear, mid rear pivot, two pound less than its predescesor.
Pivot concentric pulley...
It is called Réal (Mont réal!)

The dh frame...
Hello,
I am jerome (formerly with Balfa) .
I am looking for a US retailer that sold Balfa in 2002 and who would still have an invoice for the sale of a 2002 bb7.
If you can help please get in touch with me.
Thank you!
did not go much to bromont this summer...
hey, were you in the concordia group that made the dh bike project...
in any case, your bike is really nicer.
i am gearing up for making a few frames this winter.
i will do a little 3D modeling and f.e.a., but i still think actual frames and swing...
i had never seen Zedro's bike before, very very nice! Alex BCD 2x4 is amazing, has anyone heard of a 2 D.o.F. suspension on any vehicle before?
