Someone requested that I post some of the pics I took last night so here they are. I'd be particularly interested if they seem too dark. I purposely underexposed the background, so it's the riders I'm curious about. I just got a new monitor and I may not have it calibrated just right yet...

You're right, no one at BBTC is even remotely interested in DH/FR.
I have a Rebel XT and you can definitely get great shots with it. check out this link and you may be surprised at how many are shooting with a Rebel XT/XTi. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=30 As for the fps, 3 is plenty fast enough to start with and I'd actually...
I've been using these pads for about a month now and I'm pretty happy with them. They stay up really well, but they will slide down a little over time. I've found the key is to make sure you put the TLD logo of the sleeve right over your kneecap. I have the S/M and the straps are a little...
Caramba. Don't go there if you're looking for a cheap dinner. Dinner for 2 with drinks was about $90. Incredible Italian food though. The Fettucini Natasha was fantastic. My next favorite is the Mongolian Grill. You pay by weight so you gotta watch how much you put in that bowl.
Apparently they have more bears than normal this year. I think we saw at least 8 different bears this past weekend. 2 or 3 were spotted walking across Devil's Club and we saw 2 on Crack Addict. Unfortunately I couldn't get my camera out in time for them. We saw one rider walking his bike...
OK, the Superlight it is. Is 6 hours a realistic time if we go at a moderate pace with some picture taking along the way? Are there some fun TTFs to session along the way, or is it mainly technical XC?
Yeah I've ridden RRTI and would definitely take the Coiler for that. I was mainly thinking about the weight for Comfortably Numb since I hear it takes 4-6 hours. I don't mind climbing on the Coiler, but if the descent doesn't merit it I'd rather take the Superlight.
OK, so we're finally going to take a day at Whistler and hit a XC trail instead of the park over the 4th of July. We want to ride Comfortably Numb and I'd like to hear some recommendations on which bike to take, my Superlight or my Coiler?
It's probably pretty muddy. We were down there over Presidents Day weekend, which was after several days of rain, and it was really muddy. Maybe someone from down there can post a more definite answer.
I thought I'd post some good news about our bikes. Someone was selling the Atomik on Craigslist and we were able to recover that bike on Tuesday. The guy that was selling it didn't have anything to do with the theft, but he gave SPD some good info on the guy he got it from. We're hoping they...
Yeah I was aiming the flash directly towards the rider. I could try the old white card trick to bounce the flash off of that. I never had good success with that in the old days before TTL flash metering so I didn't think of that until now. But then I was never very good at flash photography...
Well thanks for the tips guys. I managed to only get 2 shots Saturday before the battery died. Arrrgg. Anyway, I got much better results this time as you can see. It looks like perhaps a little too much flash on the first one, but I'll keep practicing.
Well I've been playing with the camera at home and in shutter preffered mode it syncs to the flash at 1/250 and f8 so that should be a lot better. I've already taken the soft box off so we'll see how that works tomorrow. Unfortunately some of the pics I want to take won't allow me to pan as...
I know the G2 is a bit behind the current technology, but it's what I have to work with for now. Yes I have to hold the shutter halfway to lock the exposure and focus. There are actually ways of doing each one separately as well. It does have a shutter preferred mode, but I'm not sure how...
Panning is one thing I want to start trying. Unfortunately in these two examples it would be hard to do since the rider only comes into view at the last second. Basically I had to press the shutter as soon as I see the rider because of the delay. No matter what I do, timing is always going to...
