Yeah it is but sometimes the right impact can cause damage big time. As for using the SRS guide and not having this impact damage the drivetrain, Brendan hit the same spot in qualies and destroyed driveside crank/chainring/bashring but was able to pedal through the rest of the run where Sam was...
Just a bit of info. Sam slapped his guide/chainring/chain square on a rock on the bottom third of the track during qualies. The ring and chain didn't stand a chance and what isn't visible in the pic is that the ring is bent/crack and poking into the guide. It was a lucky hit by a sneaky rock and...
A little birdie told me that those bikes were built in Socal by an elf with all new goodies. No leftovers just freshies. Both of the boys were in the USA late in '08 to ride and enjoy the girlies :brows:
It's funny how people can assume what Sam was doing this weekend. He raced Super D, Slalom, and DH is that what you consider 'phoning it in'? The kid loves to ride his bike but how good of a time can you have when the organizers change a practice time, don't tell anyone and then turn you away. Lame.
Rennie won the world cup overall in 03 on a production SGS.......
Mr. Hill won the jr. downhill world championships in 03 on a production SGS......
scary
i can't tell if this is serious. the chainring is bent from an impact. there is a small bash gaurd on the bottom of the guide but it did not stop the damage caused by a rock or root.
Rennie was only on IH/MC for one season and had the best season of his career. I agree with you on the skiing side but mountain biking does not currently have the ability to spend money on riders that dont produce now. It sucks but its reality.
