Rode ///motorcycle to work; did not die. Think I'll probably try to sell it again, at least until Craigslist a-holes make me decide to keep it another year.

Also keep getting 522 errors trying to connect to ridemonkey on the work desktop. I sense IT fuckery afoot.

Get to start my first solo week of meetings tomorrow, then off to Cabo from W-Sun for our ten year anniversary trip. Wifey's parents are coming to watch the girls, so it will be a nice solo week away.

It's actually going to be a relatively cheap trip. She is the Director of Sales and Marketing at her firm. When the woman who own the company that handles unit sales heard that we were planning on going on a trip for our anniversary, she offered up her house in Mexico for 4 nights as a "gift". Flights are on points. We're are only out of pocket for food, activities, and a car rental. It will probably be less than $1200 for 4 nights in Mexico.

What I need to do is find a good book or two to read while I'm there.

Great ride on the new Banshee yesterday, on some real hills. Got the back break sorted out too; I found a Shimano IS to Post mount adapter that was definitely a few millimeters shorter than whatever I initially put on there. After another bleed the brake could lock up. Still need to mess around with the suspension on the bike though. The front feels a little harsh on repeated roots. Try it now?

Counting down the hours to Friday. Then a week off, going to be spent riding bikes and relaxing in Pennsylvania.

Survived the weekend of solo parenting. Only one more week to go. The weather was good, which helped a lot. went for a hike on Saturday morning, then took them for their inaugural mountain bike ride on their new bikes. It's pretty amazing the difference 20" wheels, fat tires and gears make for the 6 year old. He's just floating over roots and rocks that last year he was getting off and walking over.

On the hike:

Of our four different days of riding this weekend, for 3 of the days you ideally needed a high clearance 4x4 to reach the planned trailhead.

Thursday, parked up at 18 Rd and got a campsite, did a few laps.
Friday, parked at the Moore Fun trailhead near Mack. Tough to get up there from the lower lot without some ground clearance.
Saturday, Zion curtain, parked right at the CO/UT border. The dirt road to it had been dug into deep trenches by someone driving when the ground was too wet.

Yesterday was the kicker though, riding Sidewinder trail near Delta and wanted to park at the Ute Rd trailhead. I'd read it was a tough one to get to. I had our truck in 4-low with a few tough spots to avoid scraping the underneath. Get up to the small parking lot and there's another couple of 4x4's and a fucking Toyota Camry sitting there. I have zero idea how they got it up there, let alone how they were going to get it down in one piece...

Hey @SkaredShtles or @Full Trucker have you ever ridden Sidewinder trail? The section heading south between Ute Rd and Wave Rd was a blast. Red Rocks/Nighthorse heading back north wasn't so fun though :(

stop huffing drunken noodles.
We haven't been able to go very often. 3 times since the new year? Kid 3 puts a damper on eating out due to her schedule.

So maybe I am suffering withdrawal...

Edit: Now that I think of it I've been able to go for lunch more often than that. 3 times is with the whole family. So probably not withdrawal. :D

@stoney if somehow you and your family members aren't in the hospital for a change I'm thinking of seeing Endgame (again). 8:15 PM at AMC Flatiron Crossing 14 in Dolby Cinema. Not close to you but Highlands Ranch only has 6 and 10 PM, iirc.

Mornin!

Time to move on up the Oregon coast. Might reach Newport before diving back inland and heading towards Bend.
My parents live in Coos Bay. You can wave in their general direction when you pass through town. Look east across the bay and their house is atop a big hill/small mountain there. :D

Here's looking down from their house towards the North Bend bridge:

North Bend != Bend or even the north part thereof, of course.

Morning Monkeys.

After busting my ass trying to get the escape pod ready for her first trip this weekend, the wife says "not sure I want to spend that much time with my family. Maybe we take the car and make it quick".

Oh well, progress was made.
