Awake. Almost ended the life of a large deer coming home from Nick's last night. Getting excited about epic ride this weekend. Buddy is flying in this afternoon for the ride - looking forward to it. Time to work and study.

In day two of what looks like a five day run of 90% humidity, yay. Last night's ride was good but I'm really fucking sick of ending every ride soaking wet from the humidity. Can it be fall now?

lack of poopage is bugging me....really strong coffee and some oatmeal this morning will hopefully fix that.

Had a fun two mile walk with the dogs at twilight, Saw the last of the hawks heading to their roosts and the first of the owls and nighthawks taking flight under a half moon, very cool.

Ride last night kicked all of our asses, as mentioned by some other dudes it is balls hot and humid here. Looks like more of the same today. Finished the ride off with wings and beer, so it wasn't that bad.

I seem to have woken up with a pounding headache. This blows. Need to power through work today and then go for a quick ride tonight to get the brain unstuck. Then, attempt to bleed my Shimano brakes; first time doing Shimano, but should be easier than Avid's, right? Right?!

When I rode in the heat last week, it took me a couple of days to recover. if I ride tonight, it will be very short, and very mellow. I have a 1/2 litre ice block in my camel back to keep me cool. still not sure.

edited to add: where we choose to ride today will not have a lake at the end. there's a river on the way home though... with a Dairy Queen right at the beach :D

Yeah, I tend to go to bed with a headache after riding in this heat. There's a creek to cool off in at our spot, but I was starving last night and just headed home for food.

I carry a spare pair of gloves to change into after my first pair is soaked. Think I might need to start carrying a spare spare pair.

What machine did you get?

Edited to add : you asked earlier for tips on how to froth milk. When I was getting started, I found this site to be a helpful resource :http://www.home-barista.com/resources . HTML I can't immediately find the frothing guide (I'm on my phone) but of you dig around, it's there.

Test ride on the new nomad last night was a great success.

Predict a long honeymoon period.

Gotta try another bleed on my rear brake though. Which is annoying.

Working on getting replacement parts made for a small machine, using a giant stack of hand-drawn drawings from 1989 as reference.

The level of respect I have for engineers/designers from the pre-CAD days will never fade.

I got some new baggy riding shorts with a liner from REI recently. I tried them on last night and they seemed to fit, but the liner felt oddly small.

I rode to work in them this morning. The back of the liner was definitely too short, ass almost hanging out, and the chamois felt oddly forward positioned and really wide, to the point of distraction. I thought to myself that these are going back to REI pronto.

Then I got to my office, looked at said shorts, and found that the (removable, snap-in) liner was in backwards. Yup, that'd explain that odd fit...

We rode in 100% humidity in rain in 75+F last night. Riding with prescription glasses sucks in such conditions. :/

I  lamp.
I could deal with 100% humidity if it was 75. But 95 is tough.

What is lamp???

since we're on the topic of shorts... I bought some specialized Atlas XC pro shorts earlier this summer. They are the first pair of mtb shorts I have ever bought that don't slip. My gut usually makes it hard for shorts to stay at my waist, and they slide down onto my hips. not these babies. I bought them a size up, tighten the velcro straps a bit, and boom! they stay put. the nice thing about them is they are cut tight, so if you go a size up, they fit normal. score!

'Morning. I managed to ride 20 miles on the tri bike last night without getting thunderstormed on. It was drizzling when I headed out, so I did not have high hopes. The sky actually cleared during the ride. Glad I didn't puss out and ride the spin bike.

I was up early this morning for a 40 minute run ('bout 5 miles), which included some hard efforts. It was humid as hell and warm, and I was a disgusting mess when I finished the run. :dead: Still better than waiting for the 100 degree bullshit that this afternoon is going to bring.

yes. but surprisingly, they are not as expensive as other offerings from Sugoi, Pearl Izumi, Endura, TLD, Fox etc... when you consider that they come with a very good bib.

also, you can't put a price on shorts that stay put.
you are forgetting the ultimate dentist riding apparel... Assos.

Morning Monkey.

A sad day. It looks like the wife will take her dog in today to have him put down. He's been an amazing dog for her. I've never been a little dog fan, but this little bastard was awesome. Cooper, you were bad ass.

I dunno - I've found (small sample size) that liners that come with baggy bike shorts are universally SHIT.
