Fuck. So I dropped my car off at the garage for routine maintenance. Brake inspection was part of this service and they found the rear discs was rusted out and the brake pads were well below 10% remaining. So what was supposed to be a $200 job turned out to be $800.

What I find odd is that the front brake pads are still at 70%. Seems that there's a balancing issue there, but the front desk people tell me there's nothing can be done as the front/rear braking balance is factory set.???

It's a 2013 Mazda CX-5, manual transmission.

What started off as a meh day had gotten even more meh.

Or you drove around a lot with the parking brake on.
