Woke up before 6am with a headache. Cold running around in the house which I have caught a little bit off.

I was at a Japanese Garden design talk yesterday by a Danish guy who has worked as a gardener in Japan and now built a big show garden open to the public. I won a couple of rhododendron in the lottery so more plants for my collection. I am not designing a japanese garden but I do like some of the design principles where you use what seems like unstructured design to create the illusion of a larger garden. I also prune a lot of my plants inspired by bonsai and not afraid to move plants either.

In the cleavage of the Tetons
Greetings. Had an interesting Uber ride. A kid (maybe 16?) flew by us going 90 as we were merging off I81 onto 690 going about 90. He swerved ahead of us lost control, and pile-drove into a median divider. Kid was fine, but shook up.
Hopefully he learned a valuable lesson.

Thank you Daisy.

Chips are Ohakune Red potatoes, washed, sliced, rinsed and soaked for 15 mins, then boiled in salty water, dried, deep fried in canola and duck fat at 160°C and the at 190°C, with a little salt. Mustard is Al Brown’s Habanero mustard. Basil on the caprése is home grown. Tossed a little evo and balsamic on the salad to finish.

Now having a beer and watching mtb laps on the internets. Happy Friday y’all.

Out in the woods, bow in hand. Let's see if I can make something happen today.

Cold weather, which means truck went into battery saver mode. Another reminder that I've got $500 of batteries to replace shortly.

Morning Monkeys.

So now I have a ton of merch coming and that's really cool. The suppliers I've been working with have been really good, too. When I assure them I'm giving stuff away to kids not selling online, they are generous. But I can't get over this:

I don't want to call them out, but what part is made in the "good ol USA" again? I know exactly where your wheels are coming from.

<edit> seeing the markups is eye opening as well. I paid $4 for a set of ceramic bearings that generally list for $70.

School delayed 90min due to weather.

I'm sick; throat is fucking killing me. Wifey's coworker apparently has COVID, so I get to test later this am. Though it feels more like strep.

Hello peoples

snau on the house. Will shovel out front later. Snuggle time with middle child when her green light clock turns on at 7 and she marches in here—she’ll be psyched that we can have a weekend length snuggle since DPS is on a two hour delay.

:clapping: snow!

Ordered a bunch of cabinet hardware. Trying out some Blum copy for drawer slides. Sample is working pretty good for 30% of the Blum stuff.

Shall try to go fatbiking later.

hey bros! woke up at 4:56 today so I just went with it and did a workout. Looks like my new cheap chinese clippy pedals are clippy, so that's good.

@Toshi I did 1hr of z2 today in an hour! Isn't that neat? (FWIW I have a workout that is 1hr z2 and use it even when I don't have an hour to work out).

Driving along the highway today with the heat blasting on high. I guess too much for my windshield to handle. The 6inch crack suddenly let go and now spans the entire window.

Oh well, its Friday. But man I'm tired as heck from working late last night. And need to stay here at work a little later tonight, so I can go pickup my warranty frame from Toronto.

Need to coffee it now.

I have no idea where I am
I am nao 95% certain that I have tendinitis in my my right index finger from swinging a Rogue Hoe this summer. Been prone to it since I started riding 30+ years ago. Had it in my wrists, elbow and foot several times. But never a finger. Takes at least a year to heal. Yay.

Today I have to:
- bring boy #2's jacket to seamstress to have the zipper changed
- swing by the office to pick up a gift certificate for an award i won (it's for an outdoor gear shop where I have lots of stuff I need to get for the kids)
- prep the boys skis (mostly remove storage wax and re-wax) for their first on-snow practice tomorrow morning
- put the snow tires on the car so that I can get them to their ski practice tomorrow morning.

ooof. glad work isn't busy...

That’s twice as much snow as on the Winter Park snow stake, Nick!

I had 29 minutes of sweet snuggle with my middle child then quality snuggle and tickle and pretend face-eating time with kid 3. Kid 1 came in to take out her overnight contacts just now but declined snuggles as “it’s not the weekend” hmph
