i like how they say "the plastic pieces matter" i'm assuming they are referring to the BB sleeve, which would have been cut through along with the crank spindle
Cable guide that would bolt under the BB.

I have retained my employment. This is to my benefit.

It's even better when multiple people in the same area are on the same call, so you can hear them through their mic and everyone else's too, because muting yourself is hard as is not talking over other people.
Mute your mic, start shouting obscenities, ?????, profit!

On the topic of retaining employment, had my first review. Apparently it's going swimmingly, and the hospital is my oyster. Was told to decide what speciality I'm interested in, and they will make the training and the pay follow. So that's nice.

Its pretty amazing to get some positive feedback and some validation. Really makes me feel like I made the right choice, because Lord Jesus was that a scary change to make. Fuck that stupid airline.

I really fucking hate these open concept 'work spaces'. Who the fuck in their right mind ever thought it would appropriate for humans. I can't believe I still have 15 years before I can retire from this shit.

I'm listening to someone on a Teams call talk about how they fucking peel pomegranates. FFS.
Workplace Strategy and tactics dictate you should counter with microwaved fish of your choice then escalate from there

Work has talked about redoing cubeville into a bullpen style and I'm not about it. There are only 5 of us in cubes, leave my corner cube with a window view alone.

I actively avoid going to the office because I'm significantly less productive, solely due to the cubicle structure. The amount of noise and movement and people clutters my mind and I cant concentrate worth a damn.

Fight whoever is championing it.

i, on the other hand, am inching increasingly closer to rage quitting my job.

2 of the 5 are very remote, like 2+ hours drive away. Len and I are typically the only cube dwellers in and he's a full cube away (lab cube between us). So I don't see what sort of benefits there are. We collaborate together both in office and online, it's fine.

That’s excellent, Squeeb.
Very serious here, I have spent so much time in MRI and Imaging machines, I honestly thought about learning how to repair and maintain them. But at almost 58, it’s probably a bit late.

I was driving with my left arm out the window, enjoying the beautiful weather when I realized a wasp had flown into my t shirt and nailed me in my armpit. Fuckin little bastard. @jonKranked enjoy the day of self importance and indulgence.

The upper driveway is roughed in, had to take out another tree that was hampering excavation but looks better without it anyway. I have two 20-yard trucks showing in the morning to haul out the slash tomorrow, hopefully, they each can make 4 loads each. Then, we will have room to cut the house pad.

The engineer showed up today to take site notes on the retaining wall that will be 3 sides of the garage/ADU, and talked him down to completion in 2 weeks.

Because the trails have been so wet in general this year my Assagai is still in like 80% condition though. Feels pretty wasteful.

this is what I used to have. I miss those days. My first job out of university, I had an office with a door that closed and windows that opened onto a courtyard with public art. then I went to government. had an office with a door that closed, but no access to natural light. then cubes with windows. this is full-on bullshit. even senior management don't have an assigned space (hierarchy here is Director -> Director General -> Associate Deputy Minister -> Deputy Minister [Ministers are elected officials, so technically not in the public service]). We had to have a mini-revolt to get our Associate Deputy Minister a closed office. It's totally ridiculous.
