Not quite sure TBH. Kinda improvising on this leg. We know we are heading to the UP, then to Montreal and Toronto, over to Niagara Falls, then perhaps we'll either go to PEI and Nova Scotia or do a big beautiful tour of New England.
Make sure to hit Porcupine Mt State Park, Tahquamenon Falls, Copper Harbor, and Pictured Rocks at a *minimum* while you're there... you'd also do yourself a MAJOR disservice not to take a boat ride over to Isle Royale.

uhmmmm, Ottawa's nice and all, but it's really just a big little city. not much excitement going on... Toronto has a lot to see and do, I'd imagine. We do have a nice park here (Gatineau Park). I suppose it depends what you're after. Depending on timing, I might be off work and in town, so I could show you some good trails.
I just see Toronto as a giant trendy traffic jam. :(

Ottawa seems much slower, easier on the eyes and has more history behind it that you can go and see.

Maybe I'm not the best reference, living here and all but take every opportunity to get away from the city when I can...

Ha! what's funny is that I've never really visited Toronto. I went to the zoo a few times as a kid, and I've been downtown for work a few times, but I don't really know anyone there, and I've never visited it as a tourist. I just keep getting told its a big metropolis with lots to see and do.

But I can't say I'm really compelled to go.

Ottawa is home. There's definitely a good craft beer scene. people keep saying there's a foodie scene in Ottawa but I just don't see it. There's lots of trendy foodie places, but I don't feel they actually pull it off all that well. Festival season is over already, so cultural activities will be a bit lacking... but yeah, Parliament is pretty, the canal is pretty, and the riverside pathways are pretty. There's some decent riding to be had, but it's all unofficial. other than Mont Ste Marie, which is an hour out of town. There's great riding there.

Just got an email from Google that Chromecast FINALLY supports Amazon Prime Video. I mean... I'm not sure who was at fault for this not being available for the last, you know, decade or so, but JHFC it's about time. :D

they were pissy with each other (google and amazon). it wasn't for lack of hardware / software compatibility.

but i'm over chromecast now, when we got the new TV we opted for the roku ultra. at the time it was on sale for same price as the 4k version of the chromecast.

Sitting on the ferry to Orcas Island. Buddy is then picking me up in his boat for a few days of floating around drinking beers and not giving fucks.

listen fred flintstone.... essentially all tv's with screens bigger than 40" are 4k these days. there's still some inventory of low end stuff up to 55" available that are non4k, and specialty units (like outdoor tv's)
I found out recently that Comcast has capped data usage (and apparently has been for awhile) at 1TB/month. I wouldn't be able to afford 4K movies. :D

Is Prime Video actually any good, without paying for a bunch of sub-subscriptions?

I have a trial of it going right now, but the selection reminds me of when Netflix first came to the intarwebz.

Maybe the content is different based on region? Canaderp.

here in the US prime video is bundled with Prime Membership. there's good stuff on it for sure, but idk if i'd go out of my way to pay for it. YMMV.

It's either that or CenturyLink. And for the record: FUCK CENTURYLINK.
CenturyLink fiber has been good to me, even if they won't give me the new-customer intro price. I'm at $75/mo for 1000/1000 service, and I just ignore the existence of their "customer service" team and all is well.

So it would annoy you to know that living where I do, I get ~100Mbps normally and quiet periods it's 250Mbps?
That's weird that your internet speeds reflect whether your neighbors are actively downloading porn or not.

Dude... it's summer. You expected anyone to show up??
I have over 95%. It's only teachers under 35 who ghost me. It's okay though... I have a list of people who have ghosted me that go to the bottom of my follow-up, second appointment list. There are over 70,000 people at all of my accounts combined. Not giving a second chance to talk with a millennial won't hurt me.

would it annoy you further if I got 1000/1000 for $70?
Nice. The intro deal is $65 but apparently since I'm an existing customer (and won't actually make good on my threats to the retention people to flee to Comcast because they suck) I can't get that.

Plus beers and a pasty at the Ambassador in Houghton and a fish fry (literally anywhere) if in the UP on a friday.
There's some decent trails to ride up there too in Marquette and I think Copper Harbor.
