thanks @binary visions
anyone heard from @JohnE lately?
saw this on FB this morning:
decided i had to have one. googled and discovered its $135. i can probably make something comparable for $20.
I use slinkies to prevent skwrls from climbing up the pole. Seems to work pretty well. I've seen a device which is a slinky-tube-slinky, which they can't climb over without the thing smacking them in the ass. The yankee squirrel spinner is cool as heck though.
Got my new capn america helmet yesterday. Now I just need my shiny shoes and I'll be a full-fledged roaddogg
if i can figure out an easy way to make one myself i'll post instructions.
It needs to be motorized, with a remote speed control. Try it naow!
i saw that. unsure if i feel like buggering with that.
Hello all. Dropping off the Land Cruiser for a full detail later today. Perhaps mowing the lawns at some point, too, hmm
Field meetings today.
2nd day in a row, drove by folks burning an illegal campfire in the canyon.
wooks gonna wook.
Hope you reported, to reduce the chances of your house being cinders by this evening.
give it the R Kelly treatment
Me & three others by the time I got down to a cell signal. Prolly more once others made it down.
I would have stopped but some nefarious shit goes on up here.
Make them sex slaves?
Supposedly a couple years ago they did bust some human traffickers up there.
I "see" your squirrel video and "raise" you a motorized tree bike...
Seven months ago he started working on the concept again and finished the ‘tree bike’ in May using standard motorbike components such as clutch, accelerator, double brakes, shock absorbers and a 2.1 HP petrol engine. “The first time I took a ride to the top, I asked my son to be ready to call an ambulance,” says Bhat. But the machine proved to be safe and he climbed 150 trees before demonstrating it to local farmers. ''I have used high-quality components. But if there is a mechanical failure, it stops midway. You just press the clutch to gently glide it down.”
The room I am using at work sits right above the data center and something down there blew up about an hour ago and shook my room. Power went out, and the backup power kicked on. The backup power generators are right outside my room and I heard them fire up. We had to evacuate the building and the fire department was here for about 30 minutes checking things out. Whatever blew up has left the building smelling like smoke, and they've had to take about half our systems offline because the servers were getting too hot from being overloaded. I got all excited because there was a meeting for about 100 resident nurses here and they were all sent home while we waited, and I figured their meeting included lunch and that we'd get to help ourselves so it didn't go to waste. But unfortunately, their meeting didn't include lunch. I'm always getting screwed like this.
that's actually pretty ingenious.
no, the golden version of the R Kelly treatment
i bet coffee pee smells great on burning embers!
probably smells better than the wooks that started the fire
Time for JORB hunting!
Tell me what I'm worth monkeys (bout' tree fiddy, beat you to it). I've got a BS in mechanical engineering and over 10 years of wasted life poured into my current industry. I'm looking for Senior Mech Eng or Project Management positions in the piping industry.
I haven't looked for jorbs in years but I'm guessing somewhere between 80k and 100k??
@jonKranked you've been in the market more recently, what are we engineer folks worth these days. Anyone else in here mechanical engineers?
Lets just say it's important to pay attention to where you are standing if you want to piss out a fire and not stink afterwards
i've been at my current gig for 6.5 years. different industry.
watching H8R beat on drums tonight.
Isn't that about minimum wage in the Bay?
Oh - and piping industry?
I bet @TN can give him some contacts for a career in laying pipe from his previous gig.
Yeah I've been at my current employer for 10+ so I have no idea where wages are at this point
Lets just say that life might be a bit less rosy if you are making actual minimum wage
Taking a temporary leave of absence from that industry just in case someone want's to make me pee in a cup. Kinda weird considering it's fucking legal now but hey
Brought to you by Freedom Hating politicians.
That's it for an engineer in the Bay Area? Don't under value yourself. Reach out to a few recruiters and see what they come back with.
fuck me. Livermore has been teleported to the Mojave Desert
If you go outside it feels like you just walked into an oven 111.3* in the shade
Yup! Cause if you start your day with stimulants (coffee) and end your day with barbiturates (beer) you're a red blooded American. But if you end your day with a joint you're a security risk.
That's where I got the original numbers. I could see pulling more than that if I find the right people that actually need the experience I have.

you know anything about civil engineering or high voltage?
