We have had this for the last seven years: https://www.ghostbed.com/products/the-ghostbed and I absolutely love it.
7 years? That's a good bit of time. Is it slumping or anything? We have some sort of a memory foam thing we got from Amazon and it was pretty good for about a year, and now it's breaking down and has divets where we sleep so we're potentially looking for something new as well.

So... do you have one of these or something?

Wednesday, we meet again. In the office, and as per usual, busy as fuck.

Wife and I are mattress shopping. Sleep Number? Beautyrest? What say you, monkey collective? Most everything we are looking at seems to be in the neighborhood of ~$3,500.
Bought a Saatva online a few years ago. I’ve been pretty happy with it.

Here. FTS.

Hannah's moved up in gymnastics yesterday, but there are a minimal number of kids in her group that take the 5pm class. Because of that her 2-days per week class is moving to 1-day per week. We started discussing joining swim team 2-days per week, which she seems to be on board with.

We're starting the process of packing for the weekend now. It's much slower and taking more shit when wifey and Hannah are coming with.

It definitely has divots, and I try to rotate it regularly but it's not often. Those divots aren't really detectable though, and if you know me, you know I'm a bit of a queen- so even if you can see them, you can't feel them. I guess if you roll to the middle, in the unoccupied space, it feels a little different, but nothing like a clapped out coil spring.

My wife has back issues as well. I'll happily spend a few extra bucks if it means she's comfortable.

I'm tempted by a Sleep Number cause it can be adjusted to compensate for any settling. My biggest worry is finding a mattress that's comfortable initially but gets too soft after the break in period.
fwiw, here's a shopping guide for mattresses: https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-mattress/
We have had this for the last seven years: https://www.ghostbed.com/products/the-ghostbed and I absolutely love it. Fuck mattress shopping, and fuck mattress stores. And fuck mattress salesmen.

For a while, I did a fuckload of research into mattresses. I had a college roommate who adored the Tempurpedic, but if you sleep on them they can get really hot. I have cheapo memory foam mattresses for the kids, and can confirm they sleep hot (but are way more comfortable than coil spring mattresses). The hot shit in the industry is latex, which is supportive like memory foam, but offers cooler sleeping and "bounce" for activities (if you still get up to that). Memory foam can feel like you are sinking, so it's hard to get....traction, if you need it.

The Ghost bed has a layer of support foam, on top of that memory foam (like a tempurpedic) then a layer of latex (for support and cooling) then comfort foam on top of that. So, it doesn't compress too much in small spots (like a knee or elbow) but does conform to a shoulder or hip without creating pressure points. The mattress has been super durable too, with minimal sag. Prior to this, we bought a spindle mattress which is all latex with selectable firmness, but found that it was just too firm to be comfortable, and 2gs was too much for a new mattress/not worth it. I won't go back to a coil mattress, but I could be convinced to buy another latex bed.
I have a latex mattress from Ikea. Firm as fuck. it's on a frame that has slats. I liked it till I broke my back. then it was too firm. I bought a memory foam mattress topper last year. Can confirm it runs hot, but it's manageable. When this topper wears out or breaks down, I'll probably replace it with a latex foam mattress topper that is thick and cushy. I like the combo of firm mattress and cushy topper. This also gives you the option of selecting a surface that works for both people sharing the bed. we also have separate duvets...

Good point. I ended up putting a 1.5" memory foam topper on the spindle mattress because it was so hard. It really made it better.

Afternoon. Cat is officially missing. Haven't seen him since Sunday night/Monday morning (I didn't see him but kids said they did). Damnit...Haven't seen him on the roadside so I am thinking coyotes, but youngest thinks he's been cat-napped. Watching some Olympic Field hockey while it storms outside.

Have you considered a water bed?

I shit you not, they are a thing. A buddy of mine runs a water bed gallery and somehow makes a living off of selling beds.

Anyways, they are all modern now, not just a blob of water in a balloon where you flop around. And some are really fancy that can be cooled and heated.

Hopefully teh cat comes home.

I guess cat-napped is better than the alternative, but both are not good. :(

Last time I was in a water bed, I was at a house party getting busy with an ex-GF.

That ex-GF is now my wife.

large amounts of $ handed over to costco. box truck rented. living room furniture all moved over into what was the dining room. large L-shaped pleather electric reclining sectional brought into rhe house in 6 large boxes, assembled, and roughly arranged. tomorrow the new tv gets mounted to a wall. i abhor change but wifey and 14yo have been plotting all kinds of shit (i think to distract her from being sad the 18yo is heading out in two weeks and her attempting to make our house "cool" so the 14yo and his friends will hang out here more). i think it's a load of crap and don't care if he hangs out here or not, but finally surrendered. le sigh. next up i'm supposed to be building some sort of bookcase/secret closet doors with him for his room...

Went to Kennywood today with the kids and my mom. Boy howdy do my kids love roller coasters. Which is excellent, because I also love roller coasters. After a few rides on the smaller ones they both decided they wanted to ride Phantoms Revenge. They each rode it 3 times. A+ came home and had a night swim before bed. Core summer vacation memory unlocked.

Amusement park destination vacations certainly seem like they are in our future. Will be another year or 2 as my daughter doesn't meet the height requirements for everything just yet.

There's a whitewater center up in the vicinity of the bike park I go to (Jim Thorpe area). Home to one of the few whitewater kayak schools in the country. Would still like to try it.
this one was the training facility for the us national paddling team for about a decade. in addition to paddling and rafting on the man made course it also has rock climbing and over-water rockclimbing, many ziplines and ropes courses, river access for paddleboarding, outdoor yoga, restaurants, bi-weekly concerts from spring through fall, and 30+ miles of trails. it's good stuff.

And MTB trails, although I don't remember being terribly impressed when I rode there.
