I need another weekend to rest from the weekend. A friend from the states visited and wanted to go to the Tricity by the sea. Ended up walking 20km/day, sleeping next to nothing. Then the rail decided to give me the finger and all 8 trains were overbooked so I had to stand 4h in the corridor and being a moron that I aim I decided to go train acrobatics after all that. The weekend was fun even though I no longer can drink alcohol but Jesus I'm tired. Now we are having crisis meetings to fix issues that on first look seem like we can't control. Being a moron this still stresses me (mostly the fact that I have no control since I hate not fixing shit).

So fun but tired.

My asshole dad is back on a plane going back where he came from. I can hear the complaining about millenials from here!

Sold the ebike over the weekend. Got less than I had hoped, but got cash with no shipping so better than nothing. Time to take that cash and do dumb shit with it, like a trust fork, carbon hardtail, or new roadbike. Hmmmm....

Not sick. Pneumonia and bronchitis clearing up after a week.

Half expecting a shit work week, just to get caught up. Meh. At least it doesn't hurt to breathe!

Tired. I wore myself out pretty good yesterday. I had a conference call at 8:30 this morning, and by some miracle of The Jeebus, that is my only meeting today.

Mornin!

Phase 2 of garage renovation starts today. Looking forward to having the space, but not to the electrical runs, framing, insulating, drywall, flooring, trimming, and painting that need to be done before that.

This damn cold is still lingering. I'm not a fan.

In other news, my new bow is an absolute tack driver. Now I just need to get thr drop away arrow rest setup, run some more arrows through it, and I'll be ready for the season opener.

Kids had a rough night but I was sleeping in the basement (not kicked out but because I was to get up early to head in and give a 7 AM lecture to the GI fellows).

Turns out I was woken up before my alarm by my wife, coming down seeking cleanup help after the baby puked all over.

don't miss those kinds of nights.

on a somewhat related note, my daughter has successfully transferred into a big kid bed. had 0 issues, she was super ready for it. she is 2 years, 3 months. my daughter's middle son is 2 1/2, and still in a crib. w. t. f.

my son is still in a crib, he's happy in it and it keeps him from rolling down the stairs in the middle of the night. We'll switch him over around 3 probably. He's 2.5 now

our solution to this was putting a door knob cover on the inside of our daughter's room so she can't open it herself (for now).

But then they can't head out to go to the bathroom.

My kids started out in pack and play type things. (Kid 3 gets a fancy Lotus thing, like a pack and play with the mattress tethered to the corners externally so they can't burrow underneath and suffocate.)

Then to a mattress on the floor. Then to a standard bed. No crib. If they want to crawl around and look at their kid books on the shelf that's on them. If they come out and say hi to us then we put them back. <-- this process was very tedious with our middle kid! but ultimately worth it

both my kids:

crib --> toddler bed --> regular full size bed w/ side gate so they don't fall out. it hasn't been necessary for either of them yet. none of this in between nonsense.

i wanna say they were both in toddler beds by the time they were 2 (i think Maddie was in the toddler bed at 18 months). our son was in a regular bed at 3 (we could have had him in one sooner in retrospect) and my daughter is just over 2 and in a regular bad.

Everybody has a thing that works. My daughter was completely potty trained by 2. My son still wears diapers at 2.5. My daughter was in a toddler bed around three, but she went back and forth as she found the four walls of the crib to be more comforting. The one thing that I've found is that there are no awards for doing wacky shit- the award is just a functioning kid. So if my son is in a crib till 4, and that makes him happy, then he can deal with it!

i'm just trying to get my kids to be reasonably self sufficient where appropriate for their ages.

Haley slept 11.5 hours last night and was still very tired this am. Big ride crushed her yesterday. She wants to go to the BMX track next weekend and then a mtb ride afterwards. She was asking if we can go without Hannah this time because she wants to go faster on our next ride.:busted:

She's more likely to do that on skis honestly.

But it's why she's getting armor and I'm not letting her go down some things until she's built up her handling skills. She keeps asking to go on chairlift trails, which I'm giving her a hard 'no' on. She needs to learn on her local small hills before she goes to local big hills before she goes to WP. I *might* take her to WP by the end of next summer if she's proven herself. She has to show balance of braking, standing while descending, ability to jump a bit (because it just happens sometimes), go down rougher stuff, do switchbacks, etc. Plus she'll need full gear for that. Knees and elbows will not be enough; that's full face and uppers.

You wanna get her to build skills as fast as possible? Go on pinkbike and buy an old mod trials bike and show her some trials vids
