up at 4 wtf. oh yeah this sucks. so far it would apper that my body is healing and the thigh muscle pain is now minimal ( I know give a few hours and work and see if it is still happy)

Set up a 3 day weekend in June with Ruth to take the Kayaks up to Mendocino and cruise up one or two of the rivers from the river mouth beach launches and head a few miles upstream then float back down

hey there little pardner

slept like a MFin rock. zomg. It was perfect. Still trying to shake off the sleepies though. Going to ride in in a minute

Finally got my resume back from homeboy. Looks like he fed it into chatGPT and sent back the results. I don't hate the formatting but some of the "edits" just confuse me.

Random work note, which shows the difference in how people think or look at problems. ie, toss money and bandaids at a problem vs find the root cause.

Over the weekend some management people opened tickets relating to "can't save data in our Teams site". Two folks from my team looked and saw that, yeah, the Team is out of space. Their solution was to simply add more storage. I suggested, rather than just toss money at it, look at the files and get rid of old or unused ones.

I'm not sure exactly what they did, but we had to dig into it further yesterday. I found ONE excel file that is almost 5gb in size. I told my colleague that they (him, that building, the file owner...whoever) REALLY needs to look at why the file is that size and made it clear that it will cause problems in the future.

His response to all that was "so what do we do when it runs out of space again?" :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Got a bathroom sink stopper that needs repairing. Get the DSO out and about for a bit. Do some laundry. Maybe squeeze in a ride. Got to get a few garden things done. Make something for dinner. Work tonight.

Maintaining the facade of "working", while still not having internet service.

First proper MTB ride since October yesterday was ace. I might go again today.

In lieu of further bitching, my daughter just asked for a new bike for her birthday in sept. OH HELL YEAH.

But what's out there for a light 26" MTB/hybrid sort of deal? I have to resist the urge to trash pick or build one from scratch; I want this to be hers from start to finish.

out of the main brands, Giant is a solid choice. Commencal is also pretty good, but definitely skewed to MTB.

Morning Monkeys.

Was supposed to be WFH but can't do a USB install remote yet, thanks Obama. I will be WFH tomorrow as we have an appointment with a lawyer to draft up a will or something. Maybe she's divorcing me? I don't know, I'll find out at 10:30 tomorrow. I won't be here long, but I need to see if I can get this bitch to crash and burn while I'm here, it keeps failing 20 minutes after I leave.

Here. Doing ed work for new job and omfg, it's like working for a real firm again. My last role had me in such an isolated niche that I forgot what working in the market was like. It's glorious.

Amazingly, I slept like a rock last night (from 2:00 to 8:00).
Not ideal, but much better.
Rode my first meat-bike ride yesterday, it’s always surprising going from the E how much resistance gravity creates. Absolutely hated how my ‘trail’ bike is riding, I don’t even know how to begin dialing in the (new) Kitsuma air and Helm.
Im in the basic zone as when I set up new Fox or RS, but it feels like shit. I haven’t run air on the rear in two years, maybe I just forgot, lol.

former colleague/kind of boss reached out to me to ask how far the drive was to X town from where I live. Spoke with him and it sounds like he may have something cooking, and is considering me for his early time. Damn does that feel good, even if it doesn't materialize or is too far to drive.

there is an intrinsic value to knowing someone has your back.
