My point is that we weren’t trying to sleep or ride when it was too hot. Which was lucky (it has been cooler lately) and timed precisely (we didn’t roll in until after dark.).
Pretty fucking straightforward. Hard to get around the heat of the day in AUGUST. Bro!

drove down to georgia. stopped for gas at the first exit in south carolina (it's cheaper there). at that exit there was a gun shop, a liquor store, a cbd/vape store, and a giant trump merch vendor set up in the parking lot of an abandoned strip club called the castle (in the form of a castle). peak southern trbl. 18yo asked what the penalties for arson were in south carolina....

other than that, got some gelato, rode the mountain coaster, hiked...the falls at raven cliffs are pretty cool. then wifey got super carsick on the way to the house. 18yo crashed out after dinner. chilled in the hot tub with the 13yo and now playing pool with him.

tomorrow is moar hiking and mushroom hunting.

You're the dumdum who went to moab this month and then wanted to say you nailed it.
As far as everyone on this trip is concerned, we did. As well as can be done given that it is AUGUST. In MOAB... (there really is no other way to get from JH to Durango without absolutely flogging your truck towing a trailer). It wasn't really a choice.
I try to never go over about 3-3.5k rpms while towing anymore. Every other route is pretty much nuts on the grades.

No fucking Red Mountain Truck on Fire. But we might just drop the trailer in DGO and drive up to Ridgeway. Not sure yet. But we are gonna ride Engineer Mountain and Possible Coal Creek.
