le tired from two weeks of sick, a week of travel, and skiing.
Revelstoke trip is off due to weather/conditions. We're going to chase snow for a week in the states instead. Looking like a Tahoe start then either Utah or Jackson to cap it off.
Coming home from skiing yesterday I pondered what is rideable here in town, and I'm sure I can get out on my bike with minimal mud this week if I wanted. Hmm...

at work. slept poorly- woke up early, but not too early, which meant it was too early for my early wake up, but not late enough to just get up early. Anyways, I went back to sleep. Day is going to be fuxx0red because I skipped my early workout but realized too late that I won't likely get what I need from a colleague until late in the day. Meaning I'mma sit around a lot today.

Hey man wtf lol. I stayed up late watching the hand egg game last night, then was up at 5:00 AM this morning for my Monday jogging. It was 18 degrees and I wasn't in the mood but I got my five miles done.

WFH day. Both dogs are currently keeping me company in the basement, which is nice. They usually choose to stay upstairs on the couch or my bed.

Morning Monkeys.

I was all excited to get to work because I was told the tests I've been fighting with would run. I couldn't remote in on Friday, but had one of the devs look at my gear because she says they all run for her.

Get in and nope. She made some config changes that made shit worse, then she made some test code changes that made it worse. Damn, happy Monday, y'all.

I will say the weather looks lovely today, but it's 28 freedoms and that's too cold for stuff. Walkies was frigid this morning.

in other news, I've given half a thought to buying a local bike shop. The shop was apparently part of a chain of three and the owner shut down two because of health. the shop sucks, but it's in a bike shop desert, close to a new-to-be-built bike path, and in a wealthy part of town. I feel like with the right vision (gucci bikes to gucci individuals) you might make it a more viable business.

alas, my understanding of the bike industry is that the fastest way to get to a million is to start with 2 million

I learned a lot when my buddy bought Santiam Bikes. He's managed to keep it afloat for like 15 years now, so that's awesome. But another buddy of mine did it the wrong way and I got to witness that. Santiam owns 100% of their inventory, Trailhead Cycles was all on 6 month credit. It was a disaster.

Business or business + property? Learned of an absolute shitshow in the NYC area for the renting of shop space last year. Berkshire Bike and Board expanded into CT recently.

Looked at the real estate, it looks like a lease so that's a big downer. It's a weird situation- busy road, standalone building sandwiched between luxury car dealers and some other crap. I can't imagine the lease is that expensive as it looks (based on inventory) that all they sell are commuter bikes and kids' bikes. They have a MASSIVE inventory of worthless shit that should have been sold 15 years ago. Want brand new LOOK shoes from 1989? They got em....

All in all, it's been a great day.

Best wishes - southern NE needs shops which can retain focus. Was a rough couple years here post-coffeboi19
